DON'T BE A DEAD FISH
Author(s): Jonas
Songbook: Unpubbed Inspiration
KeyWords: Family Characters,

One day while Jesus was walking along,
He saw three fishermen, Peter James and John,
He said to them, "leave your nets and follow me,
And a fishermen of men you will be"

Chorus:
Oh well, don't be a dead fish,
Oh no, won't you wiggle just a little bit,
Don't be a dead fish,
Oh no won't you wiggle just a little bit,
Get up and wiggle your tail just like this,
Oh won't you wiggle just a little bit,
And don't you sit there in a self-satisfied bliss,
Get up and wiggle just a little bit

Now Simon Peter was a man as proud as he stood,
He said "the fishing here, Lord ain't very good,"
Then Jesus said, "just drop your nets into the sea"
And the nets began to break with the fish and the boats began to sink

Well, when Peter saw his first miracle that day,
He fell at Jesus' feet and he began to pray, he said,
"Oh Lord, you know I'm a sinful man", but Jesus said,
"Just follow me and be a fisher of men"

Simon Peter finally did follow Jesus all the way,
Set three thousand souls free on Pentecost day,
Out of the frying pan into the fire,
They became pure fish of gold shining brighter and brighter

Sometimes that fryin' pan gets pretty hot,
But we've learned just to praise the Lord whether we like it or not,
All who live godly shall suffer persecution,
But gladly that's a price we pay, in the Jesus Revolution

[Repeat Chorus Twice]
