I met a lamb on the road it was dancing
Here am I said he, the answer for the asking
The dove came down to sing, and well she sang
They both laughed and sang and danced the same

The lamb let out a cry, it was bleeding
Oh my God, cried the ground beneath me trembling
It opened up and swallowed day and evening
The dove sailed away, the moon was bleeding

When I looked upon the lamb it was dead
I kissed it on its furry gentle head
I buried it and then I started weeping
I wept until I fell a sleeping

When I awoke I heard my own voice singing
I looked down the road and saw the lamb a dancing
The dove came down to sing and well she sang
We all laughed and sang and danced the same
