THE DANCER

I wanted to take her hand and to dance.
I was afraid she would not understand.
They all want her body, but I want her soul.
Lord, help me to hold on, not let her go.
I wanted to take her into my arms,
And look in her eyes and speak to her heart.
She would have reached out her hand for my help
To keep her from sliding back into the dark.
And at night I can hear her say, "Why don't you help me?"
Help her to know that You love her, Lord,
Help her to love Thee!

She wants to dance in the spirit of joy,
With breath of the spring full of eternal life.
She seeks for answers and wants to be free,
But only can have it if she dances for Thee.
Heavenly heights she's never known,
Dances of love with the Lover of her soul.
In the court of His Kingdom for the King of kings,
Such joyful dancing only He can bring.
And at night I can hear her say, "Why don't you help me?"
Help her to know that You love her, Lord,
Help her to love Thee!

I wanted to take her hand and to dance.
I wanted to take her hand and to dance.
I wanted to take her hand and to dance.
