BUT IF NOT

There once was a man of God named Job,
He was rich and he was glad.
The Lord let the Devil take his riches away,
To see what kind of faith Job had.
No, he didn't give up though he was covered in boils
From his head down to his toes,
But what he did say lives on today,
And forever, heaven knows.
He said:
Chorus:
"I'll keep on loving Him,
I know that He will save me;
But if not, I'll keep on trusting Him,
Even though He slays me."
Just like the children of God in book of Daniel,
When it looked like they wouldn't be saved,
'Cause they wouldn't bow down to the golden image
That Nebuchadnezzar had made.
Oh, they didn't give up though they were thrown in the fire,
And it seemed there was no hope,
When the Lord delivered them out of the fire,
Without even the smell of smoke.
And they said:
[Repeat Chorus]
So when the clouds are dark and you're feeling bad,
And the outlook is really dim,
Just remember what Job had to say about
Being God's fair-weather friend.
Faith and obedience come first,
Then God answers prayer.
With that kind of faith you can do anything
And you can go anywhere.
[Repeat Chorus twice]
