RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION
Author(s): Nathanael, Gloria
Songbook: FTT 05 In It Together
KeyWords: Communion,

Verse 1
Boy: I've been told my lifestyle's bad!
Girl: That my parents abuse me, and
I should be glad, ha, ha, that I have been
"rescued" and now I'm "safe,"
Boy: To "start a new life,"
Girl: And "forget about my faith"!
Boy: Taken from home and people that love me,
Girl: Locked in a room where they push and shove me-
Boy: Trying to tell me,
Deprogrammers: "You're enslaved and abused!"
"An unfortunate victim!"
Girl: But it's just an excuse [just an excuse] for ...

Religious persecution!
Religious persecution!

Verse 2
Girl: The life I remember just a few days ago
Of helping and caring
and working to show the world of God's
Love, Salvation and Plan, and final
events to be brought upon man!
Boy: The reason's clear, there's no doubt in
my mind as to why we are targeted
time after time.
Girl: We're seeing fulfilled what's
written in Scripture:
Singers: All who live Godly in Jesus shall suffer ...

Chorus
Religious persecution!
Gives me the joy of knowing
That what we are suffering is because of our faith!
I know in my heart, no matter what they may say,
I'm gonna receive my reward in Heaven one day!

Verse 3
Girl: I just got the news, they said,
Deprogrammers: "Now you're free!"
"To go on back home!"
"And live normally!"
Boy: But those rumors and lies have caused
so much grief, so we'll stand up and
fight this hate and bigotry!
[This hate and bigotry!]

Boy: Now instead of forgetting what's happened to me,
I think it's my responsibility
To warn and tell you, if you trust in God, too,
This very same thing could happen to you!

[I said] This very same thing could happen to you!
[Happen to you!]

[Repeat Chorus]

Religious persecution!
Religious persecution!

Deprogrammers: "We've got you on child prostitution!"
"And brainwashing!"

[Religious persecution!]
Girl: But you don't have any evidence
to support these false allegations!

[Religious persecution!]

Deprogrammers: "Evidence?" "We don't need any evidence!"
