SONG TO YOUTH OF AMERICA
Author(s): Singing Sam
Songbook: Aaron David Songbook
KeyWords: Witnessing (About),

This is a song to the youth of America
Who's tried to open blind eyes.
A song that tells the truth of a generation
That saw the signs of the times.
They say the uselessness of a society
That was built on things that are seen
So they dropped out in search of a life with meaning
And told America to get on her knees

Discouraged, defeated, despondent, disheartened,
They sank to the depths of despair.
When Nixon was elected their truth was rejected
And stifled their struggle for air.
The rooting and rioting, hoping and fighting
Young patriots had been shot and maimed.
The hopes for a new peace-loving nation
Were drowned by the old ones again

The most diabolical, brutal, violent,
Repressive police power
Was used on children not yet old enough to vote.
The things they were sayin' were just too much truth
For the old folks to let them expose.
So they shut their mouths with tear gas
And Tommy guns but the truth it isn't stifled that way.
'Cause Moses and the Children of God
Are proclaimin' the message that Jesus has to say

How many will die without the words of their father
Yet no man careth for their souls.
They've waited so long to be kissed of My Spirit,
And they've waited so long for the words of My David,
And they've waited so long to be gathered in the fold.

Chorus:
Oh Jesus please help them find the words that you've given.
Words that'll make them laugh and be happy inside.
The wonderful words of my Moses and David.
Words that will give them everlasting life

[Repeat Chorus]
