SLEEP

RELATED INDEX TOPICS: Resting in the Lord.

         1. Precious hiding place
         Blessed hiding place
         In the shelter of Thy Love!
         Not a doubt nor fear
         When Lord Thou art near
         For I'm sheltered by Thy Love!

         2. Though we tremble in the dark,
         In need of strength & help & cheer,
         We have a tender Father's Word,
         Fear thou not, for I am here!

         3. When at night you sleepless lie,
         And the weary hours drag by--
         Lift your thoughts to God above,
         Bending down to you in love.
         Feel His presence by your bed--
         His soft touch upon your head.
         Let your last thought be a prayer,
         As you nestle in His care;
         Ask Him all your way to keep,
         Then--why then--drop off to sleep!

         4. Saviour, grant me rest & peace,
         Let my troubled dreamings cease;
         With the chiming midnight bell,
         Teach my heart that "all is well."

         I would trust my all with Thee,
         All my cares & sorrows flee,
         Till the breaking light shall tell
         Night is past, & "all is well."

         I would seek Thy service, Lord,
         Leaning on Thy promised Word;
         Let my hourly labours tell
         I am Thine, & "all is well."
         --Grace Glenn

         5. Softly now the light of day
         Fades upon my sight away;
         Free from care, from labour free
         Lord, I would commune with Thee.

         Thou, whose all pervading eye
         Naught escapes, without, within,
         Pardon each infirmity,
         Open fault, & secret sin.

         Soon for me the light of day
         May forever pass away;
         Then, from sin & sorrow free,
         Take me, Lord, to dwell with Thee.
         --George W. Douane

         6. Gen.2:21a And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept.

         7. Exo.33:14 My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

         8. Deu.33:12a The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by Him.

         9. Deu.33:27a The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.

         10. Why fight insomnia with a pill?
         Why dread to meet the nights?
         There is no better time to find
         The everlasting Light!

         11. Sleep is so like death I dare not trust it without my prayers.

         12. The sun declines: o'er land & sea
                  Creeps on the night;
         The twinkling stars come one by one
                  To shed their light;
         With Thee there is no darkness, Lord:
                  With us abide;
         And 'neath Thy wings we rest secure
                  This eventide.

         And when with morning light we rise,
                  Kept by Thy care,
         We'll lift to Thee with grateful hearts
                  Our morning prayer;
         Be Thou thro' life our Strength & Stay,
                  Our Guard & Guide
         To that dear Home where there will be
                  No eventide.
         --R. Walmsley

         13. Saviour, breathe an evening blessing
         Ere repose our spirits seal;
         Sin & want we come confessing:
         Thou canst save & Thou canst heal.

         Tho' destruction walk around us,
         Tho' the arrows past us fly,
         Angel guards from Thee surround us:
         We are safe if Thou art nigh.

         Tho' the night be dark & dreary,
         Darkness cannot hide from Thee;
         Thou art He Who, never weary,
         Watchest where Thy people be.

         Should swift death this night o'ertake us,
         And our couch become our tomb,
         May the morn in Heav'n awake us,
         Clad in bright & deathless bloom.
         --John Edmeston

         14. 1Sam.26:12b For they were all asleep, because a deep sleep from the Lord was fallen upon them.

         15. 1Kg.8:56a Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto His people.

         16. 2Ch.16:9a The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole Earth.

         17. Job 4:13 In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men.

         18. Job 11:18,19a And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety. Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid.

         19. Job 35:10 God my Maker, Who giveth songs in the night.

         20. If I wake up in the night & can't go back to sleep, I usually figure that maybe God wants me to pray! As soon as I get prayed up I go right back to sleep!

         21. Whenever I wake up during the night I feel I may as well redeem the time, & the Lord usually lays someone on my heart to pray for.

         22. It's good to take stock of things at the end of the day & to reflect momentarily on the day & its accomplishments, perhaps sometimes even its failures, & to assess its values as to whether you have really made any progress that day in God's Work & His Will & what He wants you to do. Has it been a day in which you have done His Will & He's had His way? Has it been a day that you 're thankful for because you're sure the Lord is pleased with it, & therefore you're pleased with what has occurred & what you have done that day?
         As we go to sleep at night it's a good thing to reflect on these things & assess these values as to whether you are obeying the Lord & pleasing Him, that He might say of you for that day: "Well done, thou good & faithful servant! Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord"--in peaceful contented sleep, thankful & satisfied that you have done your best that day & you can rest peacefully.
         "What have I done with my life? is often the question that I have asked myself at the end of the day as I lie down to rest for the night. "What have I done with my life this day? What did I do for Jesus?" As another old song goes: "What will you do with Jesus? Neutral you cannot be! Some day your heart will be asking, 'What will He do with me?'"

         23. The last thing we do at night is thank Him for a good day & we pray for a good night. You should always praise & pray together as you go to bed.

         24. The Lord said once to my Mother, "You should thank God for His Angels that protect you!" Don't forget to thank the Lord for His Angels that guard us. We thank Him for His Guardian Angels every night when we pray, who make it possible for us to lie down in peace & go to sleep & not worry about enemies or troubles or anything, because our Guardian Angels never sleep. They neither slumber nor sleep, they're always awake. They don't need to rest, they're not affected by gravity or weariness or anything, they can be on the job all the time.
         They're pretty good sentries, pretty good guards! Even this World has never been able to furnish any kind of guards like that. On guard duty in the army you had to take turns, because sooner or later you got tired & had to sleep, you also had to eat. But OUR guardians, OUR guards, the hosts of HEAVEN surrounding US, they don't have to eat or sleep, they never get tired, they can be on the job full time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, ALL the time! Isn't that wonderful? PTL!

         25. You must ask for the Lord's police protection & He'll give it to you! "Powerful are they which watch over thy Father David!" Seven kisses for my seven Angels! "Faithful are the servants of the Lord that protect thy Father David!"
         You have to ask them to guard you & claim the Promises of the Lord's protection. Some people ask for police protection--why shouldn't they ask for the LORD'S police protection! Do you?

         26. Bad dreams, like everything else bad, are caused by the Devil! You need to pray for good ones, like you pray for anything else good, & against bad ones! Sometimes I've had bad dreams because I didn't pray & ask the Lord for good dreams. The Lord wants to be recognised, He wants you to know that you need Him. That's why He wants you to pray.

         27. Jesus never sleeps! He watches all the time, & all of His Angels & His Saints.

         28. Thank God for His Angels, who are watching over us continually, even your personal Angel, whose job is YOU!

         29. After the sunset & the darkness there's still always the promise of another day.

         30. Trust is never tension, true faith is complete relaxation.

         31. Trust, in the dark, brings Triumph at dawn!

         32. Faith will not make the sun rise sooner, but it will make the night seem shorter.

         33. Chase away the shades of night,
         By letting in God's Love & Light!

         34. "Whispering Hope!"

         Soft as the voice of an Angel,
         Breathing a lesson unheard,
         Hope with a gentle persuasion
         Whispers her comforting word:
         Wait till the darkness is over,
         Wait till the tempest is done,
         Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
         After the shower is gone.

         If in the dusk of the twilight,
         Dim be the region afar,
         Will not the deepening darkness
         Brighten the glimmering star?
         Then when the night is upon us,
         Why should the heart sink away?
         When the dark midnight is over,
         Watch for the breaking of day.

         Hope, as an anchor so steadfast,
         Rends the dark veil for the soul,
         Whither the Master has entered,
         Robbing the grave of its goal;
         Come then, O come, glad fruition,
         Come to my sad, weary heart;
         Come, O Thou blest hope of glory,
         Never, O never depart.

         Whispering Hope, O how welcome thy voice,
         Making my heart, in its sorrow rejoice.
         --Alice Hawthorne

         35. Sun of my soul, Thou Saviour dear,
         It is not night if Thou be near
         O may no Earth-born cloud arise
         To hide Thee from Thy servant's eyes.

         Abide with me from morn till eve,
         For without Thee I cannot live;
         Abide with me when night is nigh,
         For without Thee I dare not die.

         When the soft dews of kindly sleep
         My wearied eyelids gently steep,
         Be my last thought, how sweet to rest
         Forever on my Saviour's breast.

         Come near & bless us when we wake,
         Ere thro' the world our way we take,
         Till in the ocean of Thy Love
         We lose ourselves in Heaven Above.
         --John Keble, 1792-1866

         38. Psa.4:4 Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

         39. Psa.4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep; for Thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

         40. Help these that have been having bad dreams, Lord, to be delivered & to keep their minds stayed on You. You promise, Lord, that you give Your beloved rest & that You'll keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee. So Lord, if they're thinking enough about You, Thy Spirit will cause them to have perfect peace, unless YOU want them to dream about something or give them something.
         Thank You Lord for the dreams You have given us that have been guidance, warnings & instruction for us in our sleep. Thank You for Thy distinct signs, guidance & direction that You've given us & how You've led us.
         We rest in You, Lord, we sleep in Thee, in the hollow of Thy arms, Thy hands, under Thy wings, Thy secret place. We abide under the shadow of the Almighty. It's like Your special forcefield around us, Lord, like an aura, a special kind of glory that protects us. TYJ! PYL! We thank You for how You keep us & protect us.

         41. There's something about the House of the Blessed, the Camp of the Saints, that God really protects, & His Angels are camped 'round about us guarding us night & day!

         49. Psa.34:7 The Angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear Him, and delivereth them.

         50. Psa.37:7 Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him.

         51. Psa.42:8 Yet the Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night His song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

         52. Psa.55:22 Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

         53. Psa.57:1 Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in Thee; yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.

         54. Psa.63:6,7 When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches. Because Thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of Thy wings will I rejoice.

         55. Now the day is over, night is drawing nigh;
         Shadows of the evening steal across the sky.

         Jesus, give the weary calm & sweet repose;
         With Thy tend'rest blessing may our eyelids close.

         Thro' the long night watches may Thine Angels spread
         Their white wings above me, watching round my bed.

         Grant to little children visions bright of Thee;
         Guard the sailors tossing on the deep blue sea.

         Comfort ev'ry suff'rer watching late in pain;
         Those who plan some evil from their sin restrain.

         When the morning wakens, then may I arise
         Pure, & fresh, & sinless in Thy holy eyes.
         --Sabine Baring-Gould

         56. May the Lord bless you & keep you & continue to use you, not only in your daily living, but even in your nightly sleeping, helping you to minister even in your dreams!

         57. Day is done: gone the sun--
         From the lake, from the hills, from the sky;
         All is well, safely rest,
         God is nigh.

         Fading light dims the sight,
         And a star gems the sky gleaming bright:
         From afar drawing nigh
         Falls the night.

         Then goodnight, peaceful night,
         Till the light of the dawn shineth bright:
         God is near, do not fear:
         Then goodnight.

Bugle Call

         58. Safe in the arms of Jesus,
         Safe on His gentle breast,
         There by His Love o'er shaded,
         Sweetly my soul shall rest.
         Hark! 'tis the voice of Angels,
         Borne in a song to me,
         Over the fields of glory,
         Over the jasper sea.

         Safe in the arms of Jesus,
         Safe on His gentle breast,
         There by His Love o'er shaded,
         Sweetly my soul shall rest.

         Safe in the arms of Jesus,
         Safe from corroding care,
         Safe from the World's temptations,
         Sin cannot harm me there.
         Free from the blight of sorrow,
         Free from my doubts & fears;
         Only a few more trials,
         Only a few more tears!

         Jesus, my heart's dear Refuge,
         Jesus has died for me;
         Firm on the Rock of Ages,
         Ever my trust shall be.
         Here let me wait with patience,
         Wait till the night is o'er;
         Wait till I see the morning
         Break on the golden shore.
         --Fanny J. Crosby

         59. Trembling soul, beset by fears,
         "Thy God reigneth!"
         Look above & dry thy tears:
         "Thy God reigneth!"
         Tho' thy foes with pow'r assail,
         Naught against thee shall prevail;
         Trust in Him--He'll never fail:
         "Thy God reigneth!"
         --F.S.Shepherd

         60. Guardian Angels around my bed
         Joining me in my prayers,
         They hush the shadows when they dance about,
         They shoo away the bears.

         Guardian Angels to comfort me
         If I wake in the night,
         They gather all my dreams,
         Their halos are my light.
         They dry my tears if I should weep,
         They tuck me in, they rouse me from my sleep.

         Guardian Angels around my bed.
         Standing by till I rise.
         There's one with shining wings who holds my hand
         And shows me Paradise!
         --Sung by Mario Lanza

         61. Psa.91:4-6 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust: His Truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.

         62. Psa.91:10,11 There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For He shall give His Angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

         63. It was a fine old bishop who, years ago, worrying his heart over what seemed to him the evils of a doomed World, tossing on his bed at midnight, thought he heard the Lord say, "Go to sleep, Bishop. I'LL sit up the rest of the night."

         64. Cast your burden on the Lord! Just roll it over on Jesus & roll over & go to sleep--& let HIM stay up all night! Don't worry about it!--Let the LORD do the worrying! His shoulders are broad enough to carry ANY load--all the burdens put together, including His Own!

         65. Sleep is counted in God's Word as a blessing, an act of trust & faith in God that He will help you dwell in safety & not worry, fret or fear.

         66. Psa.119:55 I have remembered Thy Name, O Lord, in the night, and have kept Thy law.

         67. Psa.121:4-7 Behold, He that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.

         68. Psa.127:1 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

         69. Psa.127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so He giveth His beloved sleep.

         70. Psa.139:2-3,18b Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. When I awake, I am still with Thee.

         71. Pro.1:33 But whoso hearkeneth unto Me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

         73. Pro.6:22 When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

         74. Ecc.5:12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep,.

         75. Jer.31:25,26 For I have satisfied the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul. Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

         76. Isa.30:15 For thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel; in returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength.

         77. Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
         Coming down from the Father Above!
         Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
         In fathomless billows of Love!
         What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
         Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
         So secure that no power can mine it away,
         While the years of Eternity roll!

         I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
         Resting sweetly in Jesus' control;
         For I'm kept from all danger by night & by day,
         And His glory is flooding my soul!
         --W.D. Cornell

         78. Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
         Too deeply for mirth & song;
         As the burdens press, & the cares distress,
         And the way grows weary & long?

         CHORUS:
         Oh, yes, He cares; I know He cares,
         His heart is touched with my grief;
         When the days are weary, the long nights dreary,
         I know my Saviour cares.

         Does Jesus care when my way is dark
         With a nameless dread & fear?
         As the daylight fades into deep night shades,
         Does He care enough to be near?

         Does Jesus care when I've tried & failed
         To resist some temptation strong;
         When for my deep grief I find no relief,
         Tho' my tears flow all the night long?

         Does Jesus care when I've said "good-by"
         To the dearest on Earth to me,
         And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks--
         Is it aught to Him? Does He see?
         --Frank E. Graeff.

         79. Safe is my refuge, sweet is my rest,
         Ill cannot harm me, nor foes e'er molest;
         Jesus my spirit so tenderly calms.
         Holding me close in His mighty arms.

         Oh! what wonderful, wonderful rest!
         Trusting completely in Jesus I'm blest:
         Sweetly He comforts & shields from alarms,
         Holding me safe in His mighty arms.

         Pressing my tear-stained cheek to His own,
         Hushing my grief with His sweet, gentle tone;
         Touching my heart with His healing balms,
         Holding me still in His mighty arms.

         Tempests may rage, sin's surges may beat,
         Ne'er can they reach my sheltered retreat;
         Free from all danger, from dread alarms,
         Resting so safe in His mighty arms.
         --W. Macomber.

         80. Grant us Thy peace, Lord, thro' the coming night;
         Turn Thou for us its darkness into light:
         From harm & danger keep Thy children free,
         For dark & light are both alike to Thee.
         --John Ellerton.

         81. No matter how small you are, you can be heard in the night, & you can think so good at night, 'cause nobody else's thinking bothers you. There aren't any other voices to interrupt you. Your thoughts just expand & they get so big, they fill the whole night! You can reach right up to God & you can hear His Voice so plain. It's so easy to hear Him at night--the still small Voice in the wee small hours of the night!
         He likes to whisper like a lover in your ear in soft, sweet tones. He likes to woo you in the softness of the night with His tender gentle, loving Voice, whispering in your heart, when the slightest whisper can be heard--when there's no other voice to drown it out! It's so hard to hear Him in the daytime--the clatter, the noise, all the other voices, all the other racket going on--it's terrible! There's hardly even a closet where you can get alone & still not hear all that racket of the World pounding on your eardrums from the outside, as it rushes merrily on its way to Hell.
         I hate the busy day with all its garish activity, crashing sounds, screams & shouts & roars, its blinding glare, its burning heat! I long for the cool & the quiet of the night, when you can see the tiny stars twinkling away so quietly, so sweetly; they just wink at you; they just whisper to you--you know they love you! They talk to you without a sound!
         You can gaze for hours at the stars, watch them wend their way through space, brilliantly, softly, tip-toeing through the Heavens--the Heavenly corridors, lighting up the mansions of the sky; like the windows of Heaven! You feel like they're the eyes of Angels peeping through at you, telling you they know you're there! During the daytime you can't even see them! The light of the sun is so bright, it blots them out. But at night when the sun is gone down, they come out to dance in the sky & wink at you again & laugh & play with you.
         While the Scriptures speak many times of DARKNESS with an evil connotation, the physical NIGHT, created by God Himself, is NOT evil, & is often spoken of as a blessing. Jesus arose a great while before it was day, so obviously He rose during the NIGHT to pray. The Lord appeared to Solomon in the NIGHT & granted him wisdom & knowledge, as he requested. And in the Song of Solomon, the woman went out to seek her lover in the NIGHT! David in the Psalms speak so much of communing with God in the NIGHT seasons, instructions & songs in the NIGHT!

         82. Isa.26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee, because he trusteth in Thee.

         83. Zeph.31:13b For they shall feed & lie down & none shall make them afraid.

         84. Mat.4:11 Then the Devil leaveth Him, and behold, Angels came and ministered unto Him.

         85. Mat.6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

         86. Mat.8:23-26 And when He was entered into a ship, His disciples followed Him. And behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but He was asleep. And His disciples came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And He saith unto them, Why are ye so fearful, O ye of little faith? Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.

         87. Mat.11:28-30 Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My Yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

         88. Mat.18:10 Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in Heaven their Angels do always behold the face of My Father which is in Heaven.

         89. Mat.28:20b And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the World.

         90. Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days that He went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

         91. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the World giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

         92. At evening time no gath'ring night;
         "It shall be light,"
         God's holy light, His Word our sight--
         At evening time.

         At evening time above the shroud
         The rainbow cloud,
         God's pledge of care: Trust finds Him there--
         At evening time.

         At evening time He gives repose
         From earthly woes;
         Why should we fear? Day's dawn is near--
         At evening time.
         --F.E. Belden

         93. Acts 27:23 For there stood by me this night the Angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve.

         94. Col.1:13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the Kingdom of His Dear Son.

         95. 1Th.5:10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.

         96. Heb.4:3a For we which have believed do enter into rest.

         97. Heb.4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

         98. Heb.12:1a Wonderful seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses.

         99. Psa.17:3 Thou hast proved mine heart; Thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shalt not transgress.

         100. Psa.17:15 As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness.

         101. Under His wings, I am safely abiding;
         Though the night deepens & tempests are wild,
         Still I can trust Him, I know He will keep me;
         He has redeemed me, & I am His child.

         Under His wings, under His wings,
         Who from His Love can sever?
         Under His wings my soul shall abide,
         Safely abide forever.

         Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow!
         How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
         Often when Earth has no balm for my healing,
         There I find comfort, & there I am blest.

         Under His wings, O what precious enjoyment!
         There will I hide till life's trials are o'er;
         Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me,
         Resting in Jesus I'm safe evermore.
         --Rev. W.O. Cushing.

         102. When you're crying for all the times you've tried,
         And you're trying to forget the tears you've cried.
         You've seen so much pain & sorrow,
         You don't know about tomorrow,
         But you can have peace in the midst of a storm.

         You can find peace in the midst of a storm.
         You can find hope when you just can't go on any more.
         Well, there's love to be found
         When your whole World's tumbling down.
         You can find peace in the midst of a storm.

         Sometimes I feel like I know you feel.
         And my heart's reaching out
         For something that I know is real.
         Then His Love comes to me & it helps my mind to be
         In peace in the midst of a storm.

CHILDREN'S POEMS, SONGS & PRAYERS!

         105. Father, unto Thee I pray,
         Thou hast guarded me all day;
         Safe I am while in Thy sight,
         Safely let me sleep tonight.

         Bless my friends, the whole World bless;
         Help me to learn helpfulness;
         Keep me ever in Thy sight;
         So to all I say good night.
         --Henry Johnstone

         106. Good night! Good night!
         Far flies the light;
         But still God's Love
         Shall flame above,
         Making all bright.
         Good night! Good night!
         --Victor Hugo (1802-1885)

         107. Lord, keep us safe this night,
         Secure from all our fears.
         May Angels guard us while we sleep,
         Till morning light appears.

         108. My Saviour, hear my prayer
         Before I go to rest;
         It is Your little child
         Who comes now to be blest.

         Forgive me all my sin,
         And let me sleep this night
         In safety & in peace
         Until the morning light.
         --Henry L. Jenner

         109. Now I lay me down to sleep,
         I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to keep:
         If I should die before I wake,
         I know Thee, Lord, my soul will take.--To Heaven!

         110. Thank You Jesus for our beds,
         And for Thy Angels 'round our heads.
         Help us have good sleep tonight,
         And wake us with the morning bright!

         111. Thank You Jesus for this day
         And for our home so fair.
         You helped us, Lord, to do some good
         And kept us in Thy care.
         And blessed our loved ones everywhere,
         In Jesus' name, amen.

         112. Guardian Angel, watch over me,
         Wherever I go, wherever I'll be.
         I know you're there though you cannot be seen.
         You are God's loving care for me.

         (Guardian Angel:) My sweet little child, I'll watch you each day,
         When you are sleeping & when you're at play.
         All through your life I'll be right by your side,
         I'll be your protector & Heavenly guide.

         Thank You Lord for Your Angels who watch from above
         Protecting us children forever in love.
         Guiding our steps as we walk through each day,
         They keep us safe & remind us to pray!--Chris Gardener

         113. In the daytime it's so loud
         I feel I'm blotted out by the noise & glare.
         But at night it's all so quiet,
         I know God hears my prayer.
         And He shows me around the Universe
         I can ride on the Milky Way.
         I can watch the golden Moon rise
         And hope it has come there to stay.

         So if your days are loud & weary
         And you feel you cannot be heard,
         Wait for the night, my deary,
         When God hears the tiniest bird.

         When everything else is quiet
         And all the others are in bed,
         I know that God knows I'm living,
         His Voice kind of sounds in my head.
         And I feel so close to Heaven,
         Yes, I feel I could touch the sky!
         'Cause at night there's nobody closer
         Than dear Jesus, Who keeps me all night.

         And if I think that nobody loves me,
         I wait for the sun to set.
         And the stars come out to entice me,
         And I know I'm God's Own pet!--Dad.

         114. Darkness is falling & the Angels are calling,
         Calling you into their arms.
         Under their wings, they peacefully sing
         He will take care of His Own.

         No harm can touch you, you know that He loves you,
         Little children, do you love Him too?
         You are His sheep He's promised to keep.
         And He will take care of His Own.

         So dream of tomorrow when there'll be no more sorrow,
         Neither sorrow, nor crying nor tears.
         Jesus will come as bright as the sun,
         And He will take care of His own.
         --Windy

         115. Sweet dreams tonight!
         Sweet dreams tonight!
         Love will guard & protect you,
         All through the night.
         Angels that glow, dance as they flow,
         To the beat of your heart, around as they go.
         Happy times unfold, with sparkles of light,
         Melodies of gold, will kiss you goodnight!
         --Andrew Greeneye & Windy

         116. Lullaby & goodnight,
         All the stars shine so bright!
         Dream of Heaven, my dear one,
         Until morning brings the sun.
         Come lie down now & sleep,
         May your slumber be sweet;
         Come lie down now & sleep,
         May your slumber be sweet.

         Lullaby & goodnight,
         Dream of Paradise bright!
         There is moonlight in the sky
         And the Angels stand nearby:
         They protect you from harm,
         You are safe in God's arms;
         They protect you from harm,
         You are safe in God's arms.
         --Johannes Brahms & Windy

         117. I hear the wind as it rustles through the treetops,
         I hear the leaves as they drink the falling rain.
         I hear a dove softly cooing by my window,
         I hear God speak to me.

         The night is falling so cozy & deep.
         Outside my window the dove coos so sweet.
         I am God's child & I know He'll keep me.

         The day is over, the sun says "Goodbye."
         The night is friendly, so peaceful & quiet
         Listening to God, nighttime is my favourite time.

         I hear a dove softly cooing by my window.
         I hear God speak to me,
         I hear God speak to me.
         --Windy

         118. There among the stars is a land of magical light,
         There among the stars is a World where we can fly.
         In my dreams at night I can visit Heaven so bright,
         In the land among the stars.

         Beautiful white Angels come to take me there,
         Rainbows & delights I can see everywhere.
         Everyone is smiling, the wind blows through my hair,
         In the land among the stars.

         The water in the rivers sings to me a song,
         Butterflies are playing with the big white swans.
         There are friendly ponies I can ride upon
         In the land among the stars.
         --Jeannine Beckers & Windy

         119. Little bird in the night,
         Come & rest from your flight,
         Sing your songs of love,
         Little bird in the night.

         Through the raging storm,
         Sing your songs soft & warm,
         Sing your songs of love,
         Little bird in the night.

         Little bird in the night,
         God cares for you,
         And the words of your song
         Say that God loves me too.

         Little bird in the night,
         Stars will show you the way,
         To your soft little nest
         Where you rest till the day.
         --Stephan Schaf & Windy

         120. When stars fill the sky & the day's at its end,
         I talk to my Friend Who's always with me.
         And when I'm in my bed I don't have to be frightened
         I know my Friend Jesus is always with me.

         After Mommy's tucked me in,
         Everything I tell to Him.
         All the time I am speaking He is there,
         Hearing my prayer.

         I am safe in the night, I have a Friend beside me.
         I know Jesus is with me, He's always with me.
         And if I should awake & Mom & Daddy are sleeping,
         I know my Friend is with me, He's always with me.
         I know that He's not too busy
         To take the time to care for me.
         He knows my name & where I live
         His Love is so big, His Love is so big!
         --Jeremy & Windy

         121. Last night I dreamed such a wonderful dream,
         The Angels were singing & dancing with me,
         There in the stars we were flying so free!
         "Sweet dreams tonight", I heard them say,
         "We'd like to invite you to come out & play!"
         When shadows fall, Angels draw near,
         Softly they call, music I hear, filling the air.

         Seven bright Angels appear by my bed,
         Two hovering over & two at my head,
         One takes my left hand & one holds my right,
         And one guides my footsteps toward wonderful sights!
         Heaven is open for us to explore,
         We fly to God's house, He opens the door,
         There's so much more!

         When shadows fall, Angels draw near,
         Softly they call, music I hear, filling the air,
         Singing so clear, Heaven is here!
         --Ruthie David

         122. Little birdies are sleeping,
         There are Angels here by my bed,
         I have a nice little pillow
         Where I can rest my sleepy head.

         When everyone's quiet,
         I lie down & close my eyes,
         I know that God's with me
         And I am not afraid of the night.

         My thoughts travel so high,
         I feel they could touch the sky,
         I hear Someone say,
         "I'll be with you always!"

         I know Someone loves me,
         I know Someone watches me.
         I know Someone keeps me

         All through the day
         And through the night.
         When everyone's sleeping
         And the lights all are dim,
         I know Someone's with me,
         I feel so safe & close to Him.

         He created the nighttime
         And the big golden moon,
         Silver stars He created
         To shine their light into my room.
         --Jeremiah, Ruthie David & Windy

         123. Bright stars are watching the World as it sleeps,
         Shepherds watch over the little white sheep.
         The lighthouse is shining for ships far at sea,
         And God's loving eyes are upon you & me.

         So sleep, sleep in peace & rest,
         Don't be afraid of the darkness.
         All's well, far over the land & the sea,
         For God's loving eyes are upon you & me.
         --Jim Reeves & Windy

         124. Starlight, starlight even in the darkness your love I see,
         Shining brightly, glowing, guiding, watching over me.
         Telling me you love me so, your voice calls to me,
         Shining brightly, glowing, guiding, watching over me.

         All the travellers in the darkest night
         Thank you for your light,
         For they could not see which way to go
         If you did not twinkle so.

         In the dark blue sky you stay awake
         And never close your eyes.
         Then you disappear & go to sleep
         When sunlight fills the sky.
         Shining brightly, glowing, guiding,
         Watching over me!
         --Paul Michael & Windy

         125. Little eyes, little eyes,
         Close your sweet little eyes.
         Little eyes, little eyes, go to sleep.
         Dream a dream, pray a prayer,
         Heaven knows you are there,
         Little eyes, little eyes, go to sleep.

         Little stars, little stars,
         Little stars in the sky.
         Little stars, little stars shining bright.
         Dream a dream, pray a prayer,
         Heaven knows you are there,
         Little stars, little stars shining bright.

         Little boys, little girls,
         Little children in bed,
         Little boys, little girls go to sleep.
         Dream a dream, pray a prayer,
         Heaven knows you are there,
         Little boys, little girls go to sleep.
         --Windy

         126. When you are alone in your bed at night
         And it's hard to go to sleep,
         Just say a prayer to the One Who cares,
         And Jesus you will meet.
         He'll show you things that you never dreamed of,
         More wonderful than all you've seen,
         With the Spirit Queen Who's always near
         You'll fly with golden wings.

         This beautiful World that I'm telling you of
         Is not at all a fantasy.
         It really exists & you can live there one day
         If God's Love you have received.

         It's a Heavenly City that's full of Love,
         Made of golden crystal glass,
         Fountains of light by the River of Life,
         Picnics on the soft carpets of grass.
         Sunlight's shining on the tall green trees,
         Horses with wings fly by,
         The children play with the animals,
         And the lions don't scratch or bite.
         You can understand the songs the birdies sing
         And all that the animals say,
         You can walk without shoes or socks
         And every day is a happy day.

         So when you are alone in your bed at night
         And it's hard to go to sleep,
         Just say a prayer to the One Who cares,
         And Jesus you will meet.
         He'll show you things that you never dreamed of,
         More wonderful than all you've seen,
         With the Spirit Queen Who's always near
         You'll fly with golden wings.

         "Close your eyes, you can come with Me,
         Close your eyes, you can come with Me.
         Come with Me, come with Me, come with Me!"
         --Caleb David & Windy

         127. Under my covers, I'm tucked in so tight,
         The Angels from Heaven watch me all night.
         The wind whistles softly, my head starts to nod,
         I hear the chorus & the song of the frogs.

         We are surrounded by the Angels of Love,
         They sing us a Heavenly song.
         Thank God for His Angels who watch over us,
         Protecting & always guiding us.

         Slowly my eyelids cover my eyes,
         Sweetly my mother tells me goodnight.
         I have a pillow, soft as can be,
         I see the Angels smiling at me.

         Angels of Love, watch over us,
         Angels of Love, watch over us,
         Angels of Love!
         --Unknown Author & Windy

         128. God's Love will be with us
         All through the dark of night,
         The Angels watch over us
         With wings of silver light.
         Tomorrow morning will come
         With sunshine warm & bright.

         See the Moon, so round & gold,
         Climbing in the sky.
         I will pat your sweet little head
         And sing this lullaby.

         All the children in the World
         Sleep when day is done.
         Yellow, black or brown or white,
         Jesus loves each one.
         --Windy

         129. Sleep, my child, & peace attend thee
         All thro' the night;
         Guardian Angels God will lend thee
         All thro' the night;

         Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
         Hill & vale in slumber steeping;
         Love alone his watch is keeping
         All thro' the night.
         --Welsh folksong

         130. Can you count the stars of evening
         That are shining in the sky?
         Can you count the clouds that daily
         Over all the World go by?

         God the Lord, Who doth not slumber,
         Keepeth all the boundless number;
         But He careth more for thee,
         But He careth more for thee.

         Can you count the birds that warble
         In the sunshine all the day?
         Can you count the little fishes
         That in sparkling waters play?

         God the Lord their number knoweth,
         For each one His care He showeth:
         Shall He not remember thee?
         Shall He not remember thee?

         Can you count the many children
         In their little beds at night,
         Who without a thought of sorrow
         Rise again at morning light?

         God the Lord, Who dwells in Heaven,
         Loving care to each has given:
         He has not forgotten thee,
         He has not forgotten thee.
         --Johann Hey

         131. Oh, what a wonderful horse is the Fly-Away-Horse,
         Perhaps you have seen him before;
         Perhaps while you slept his shadow has swept
         Through the moonlight that floats on the floor.
         For it's only at night, when the stars twinkle bright,
         That the Fly-Away-Horse, with a neigh
         And a pull at his rein & a toss of his mane,
         Is up on his heels & away!
         The moon in the sky,
         As he gallopeth by,
         Cries, "Oh! what a marvellous sight!"
         And the stars in dismay
         Hide their faces away
         In the face of old Grandmother Night.

         It is yonder, out yonder, the Fly-Away-Horse
         Speedeth ever & ever away--
         Over meadows & lanes, over mountains & plains,
         Over streamlets that sing at their play;
         And he speedeth so fast that the men at the mast
         Adjudge him some portent of woe.
         "What ho there!" they cry,
         As he flourishes by
         With a whisk of his beautiful tail;
         And the fish in the sea
         Are as scared as can be,
         From the nautilus up to the whale!

         And the Fly-Away-Horse seeks those far-away lands
         You little folks dream of at night--
         Where the Tree of Life grows & Living Water flows,
         And the garments you wear are so white;
         And the beasts in the wood are ever so good
         To children who visit them there--
         What glory astride of a lion to ride,
         Or to wrestle around with a bear!
         The monkeys, they say:
         "Come on, let us play,"
         And they frisk in the coconut trees;
         While the parrots that cling
         To the peanut vines sing
         Or converse with comparative ease!

         Off scamper to bed--you shall ride him tonight.
         For as soon as you've fallen asleep,
         With a jubilant neigh he will bear you away
         Over forest & hillside & deep!
         But tell us, my dear, all you see & you hear
         In those beautiful lands over there.
         Where the Fly-Away-Horse wings his far-away course
         With the wee one consigned to his care.
         The grandma will cry
         In amazement, "Oh, my!'
         And she'll think it could never be so;
         And only we two
         Shall know it is true--
         You & I, little precious, shall know!
         --Eugene Field (1850-1895)

         132. Through the night Thy Angels keep
         Watch above me while I sleep.
         And when the hour has come for day,
         They chase night's shadows all away!

MISCELLANEOUS QUOTES ON SLEEP

         133. At night I'm already in prison & I'm alone & I fight the forces of darkness alone with the Lord & His Word, that's all I have, & I just have to pray & quote Scriptures & pray in tongues against the Enemy who tries to overwhelm me at night when I'm alone & you're sleeping. But thank the Lord He never fails, TYJ! He always helps me through.

         134. I feel so alone in the night sometimes, like nobody is with me, everybody is asleep but me & the Lord. But it really encourages me to know that I'm not alone in these wee hours of the night that I stay awake when you folks here are sleeping, to know that somebody somewhere is praying with me & for me & feeling for me & keeping me company in these wee hours of our NIGHT during the hours of their DAYTIME. Thank You Jesus!
         I will never ever again feel alone at night now that I know that they are praying for me even during these wee small hours of the night! That's all I needed to know, that I'm not alone in these hours of the night when you folks here are sleeping, that there are some of our precious Family praying for me every hour of the night!
         I can go to sleep with such rest because they're praying for me! I used to think I was all alone & it was really scary & hairy, but now I know I'm not alone because there is somebody somewhere praying for me! Thank You Jesus!
         We've got to go to sleep, Honey. We'll go to sleep while they pray, because we'll be safe in the Lord's & their hands! Thank You Lord for these wonderful prayer warriors around the World who are interceding & fighting for me! Honey, I think that's been almost the most wonderful thing that's ever happened to me, to know all those people are praying for me every hour of the day & night! TYJ!

         135. I really have to fight to stay alive in the night! The demons of Hell try to KILL me, & they try to kill me with FEAR! But we don't have to be afraid of the "terror by night", if we'll just claim these wonderful promises of the 91st Psalm & the 23rd & 27th Psalms. READ them! CLAIM them! Fight the Enemy with the WORD!--Like Jesus did during His temptation. Every night since this, Maria's been reading me to sleep with these Scriptures, & loved one have been praying desperately that I could sleep without these attacks of the Enemy, & I've been sleeping peacefully & soundly all night long, & feeling so much better in the days, too. Praise God! It WORKS!--The wonderful WORD WORKS!--And prayers of our loved ones too. Try'm! I now keep a LIGHT on TOO!

         136. Sometimes in the night I lie here in fright,
         I can feel the darkness closing in on me.
         The night is so long, I wait for the dawn,
         If only I could rest from all this agony.

         Troubled by dreams, I feel I could scream,
         Looking for a way to end the misery.
         At the end of my rope with no visible hope,
         I call upon the Name that always rescues me.

         A prayer in the night upon my bed,
         A prayer in the night is all I need
         To chase away my pain & fears
         And make the prince of darkness flee!

         Whenever I'm down, whenever I'm lonely,
         Whenever it's dark & I get afraid,
         I call out the Name that never has failed me,
         And the terror by night is frightened away!

         So in the night when I try to sleep
         And I feel the darkness closing in on me,
         I'm so weak & I know it's true,
         That I could never make it through the night without
         You!--JESUS!
         --Michael, Jerry, Jeremy & Paul Michael

         137. Evil spirits don't like light! I believe the light is one of the instruments the Lord uses to help drive away the dark. The Bible distinctly says that they're lovers of darkness because their deeds are evil, so they flee the light.--John 3:19.

         138. I think the Lord sometimes lets you be TESTED in your dreams to see what you would do under such circumstances. it is a pretty realistic test under dream conditions, because you don't know you're in a dream, you think it's really happening, so your reactions would be very real & genuine, realistic as to what you would really do under such circumstances.
         The Lord's testing you in your sleep, He's putting your spirit through experiences & lessons & learning, & also testing & trying you & giving you examinations & tests just like school. He's keeping your spirit very busy & it's getting an education while your body is sleeping.
         I think that's why you have nightmares, your spirit is actually battling spiritual forces! While your body's asleep the Lord allows that to see what you'll do or how strong your & what effect it will have on you & whether you'll make the right decision or not, if you'll really call on Him for help even when your spirit is attacked by evil spirits in your sleep. So it's all a part of your spiritual experience & your spiritual life which continues in your sleep.
         I was wondering why we have dreams that seem to have no messages or any particular significance or meaning, & yet we remember them or at least parts of them. You probably don't realise what significance or meaning they have, which is edifying your spirit even though you don't grasp it with your conscious mind.--Just like Paul said about praying in the spirit & in tongues, your spirit is edified (1Cor.14:4), but what does this mean? It means your spirit is literally being educated & inspired! Your spirit is being lifted up, edified, educated!
         Your spirit or your spiritual mind is constantly busy & thinking & dreaming & having spirit trips all the time in your sleep, because it doesn't need rest, it doesn't have to sleep. It's immortal, eternal, spiritual. "The things that are seen are temporal, the things that are not seen are eternal!"--2Cor.4:18 The physical dies away but the spiritual is forever, & it's forever even in your sleep, busy all the time, having experiences, learning lessons, making decisions, exploring! It's wonderful!
         It's a gift, in a sense, to remember those spiritual experiences & dreams, but it's undoubtedly a blessing that you DON'T remember EVERYTHING that happens in your sleep & your spirit experiences that you're not supposed to remember. It would be too much of a burden for your carnal mind to be burdened with all that all the time & have to remember it when you have the present to worry about, today. You've got enough to think about today.
         When you come to having to make certain decisions when you're awake, you automatically make the right decisions because you learned the lessons while you were sleeping. So when you're awake & the test comes, you give the right answer.
         Thank God for dreams! They're part of our education, our spiritual education as well as a revelation if the Lord decides that we need to remember it.

         139. The evil spirits fight us through our dreams too. They fight us in our dreams just like the good spirits are trying to HELP us in our dreams! We have good dreams & bad dreams. We have wonderful, beautiful, good message dreams & we have horrible nightmares! They really try to influence us!

         140. The Lord knows how to make your body know how much sleep it needs & to get that sleep regardless. So don't worry if you have a sleepless night, maybe you'll have a sleepy afternoon. Or if you didn't get much sleep the night before, maybe tomorrow night you'll get twice as much or more than you need. That's a marvellous body the Lord's given you, it's got its own time clocks, timers & everything!

         141. Your immoral spirit doesn't need sleep! While your physical body is having to sleep or rest, your spirit needs to keep busy doing something, so the Lord lets it travel & have all kinds of experiences & do all kinds of things. It's learning even in your sleep, travelling & experiencing, so that while your body sleeps, your eternal spirit is very busy doing things & learning things, even making decisions & choices!
         The conscious physical mind gets tired & weary. You can lie sleepless sometimes for hours thinking about things & worrying about things or even planning things & figuring out problems etc., but that wears out your body, because your conscious mind, your physical mind, is part of your body. Your brain is part of your physical makeup, so it tires your whole body.

         142. The Bible says, "Strength cometh not from the bed!" Well, you need your rest, but if you stay in bed TOO long, if you stay in bed all the time, you just get weaker & weaker.

         143. When you don't know what to do, sometimes the best thing to do is just stop, quit, don't do anything! Wait on the Lord! If you're tired or upset or feel sick, go to bed, take a rest, take a nap, get a little sleep. Maybe you'll feel better when you wake up, & maybe the Lord will even give you the answer in your sleep or in a dream or revelation or a prophecy of some kind. I'm sure you'll get the answer if you'll just wait on the Lord.

         144. My Mother was riding on a 3-day & 3-night trip from Miami to Los Angeles by way of Chicago during the war, when everything was so crowded they were sleeping in the aisles & sleeping in the luggage racks overhead! She was having to sit there with one of my sister's children on her lap almost the whole trip, one after the other, because there was no room for special seats for kids.
         By & by she was beginning to wonder if she was going to make it & she complained to the coloured porter one night that she couldn't sleep, everything was so noisy & she was so uncomfortable. She said, "Can't you find me a berth yet in the Pullman car?" Everything was booked.
         He said, "Ma'am, I tells you what you do! You jes' close your eyes & you think about those boys out yonder in those shell holes & foxholes & all that war going on overhead & wondering what minute one of those shells are going to hit them & unable to sleep at all & halfway knee-deep in the mud & water & blood! You jes' close your eyes & think about what they're going through & lie back & rest & you'll sleep like a baby!"
         And she took his advice & did that & went right sound asleep! She was so thankful she had a seat to sit in & a place to lay hear head!

         145. No matter how spiritual you are or how much spirit you think OTHERS ought to have, at least for God's sake have a little pity on their flesh! Even Jesus did that. He didn't wake up the disciples & say, "Hey, wake up! Come on! Shake up!" He said, "Sleep on now & take your rest. The spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak."--Mat.26:41,45. He had pit on them, He had mercy on them.

         146. Scientists say you really remember things you hear in your sleep. Sleep-teaching was quite popular some years ago. Actors who put a speaker under their pillow when they slept & kept a tape playing of their lines that they had to learn, learned their lines in half the time!
         So you do HEAR in your sleep! Your ears are the only part of you that don't really go to sleep!--And apparently you REMEMBER what you hear, too, even in your sleep. Therefore when you have to cover your children up or check on them in their sleep, it is good to whisper that you love them in their ear & reassure them that everything is all right & pat them & let them know it's a friend.
         Scientists have discovered the fact that during your sleep your ears will ignore familiar sounds, the normal sound pattern of the night, but will immediately alert you & sound the alarm & awaken you if they hear an unusual unfamiliar sound! God has created watchmen on your two sidewalls to awaken you & sound the alarm if there is anything unusual going on. Your brain & your ears get accustomed to certain sounds & get programmed to letting you sleep, but if a new one pops up suddenly, then YOU pop up!

         147. It's a known medical fact that sleep usually helps most illnesses, so if you can get extra sleep when you're ill it will usually help. But we can't put our faith in sleep. We have to trust in the Lord or He probably won't even let the sleep help us. Usually when I have a headache it's because I'm overtired, but if after an hour or two of sleep I still have the headache, then I know the cause isn't related to a lack of sleep & neither is the solution MORE sleep. I usually know then that I have to get desperate with the Lord & that the Enemy is really fighting me!

         148. One reason why spirits are much more active at night is because darkness shuts out the World & the noise & makes you more conscious of the spiritual world, & when all these other people are gone to bed you can't feel their spirits any more. They don't send out all those vibes or spiritual static any more, & when they go to sleep they turn off their transmitters, I guess. Human spirits become inactive & silent, but then the spirits of the Spiritual World are able to become much more active & communicate much more easily. Ghosts are famous for coming mostly at night.

         149. There could be a lot of different reasons why you have bad dreams. It could be something you ate. It could be something you were worrying about when you went to sleep & you just carried on that train of thought in your sleep, subconsciously. It could be a definite implantation of thought in your mind from evil spiritual sources in an attempt to try to influence your thinking & to frighten & scare you. Sometimes dreams are an advance warning of something that's going to happen, or a sign of something that's maybe happening already that you don't know about. But warning dreams from the Lord usually have something good & meaningful in them! They are usually not entirely bad & always have some kind of lesson to be learned.
         If you know the Lord, then you're HIS child, & you don't have anything to worry about. You shouldn't fear, you shouldn't worry. You KNOW the Lord's protecting you, He keeps you, He hallows you 'round about & gives His Angels charge over you. Hallelujah!

         150. The wicked are like the troubled sea when it cannot rest. "There is no rest, saith my God, for the wicked." They are tossed to & fro & they cannot rest. No rest for the wicked! "But there remaineth a rest for the Children of God!"

         151. "In Heaven their Angels do always behold the face of the Father!"--Mat.18:10. The thing that came to me just then when I was praying for the Lord to comfort the baby was that "their SPIRITS do always behold the face of the Father"! If that verse means their OWN SPIRITS do always behold the face of the Father, that means the little children are in such close communication with the Lord that they see the Lord Himself! What an encouragement & comfort that must be to a tiny child to be able to see the Lord! That would carry him through a lot of things when the Devil tries to frighten him, if he can see the face of the Lord. There is direct communication, face to face, they're so close to the Lord! He's watching over them so closely & constantly, they actually see His face!
         How reassuring it must be to see the Lord & the visions He wants to show them! "Young men shall see visions!"--Joel 2:28. If the meaning of "angels" is "spirits", it means that the spirits of these little tiny children constantly behold the face of the Father in Heaven! If His "face" means Jesus, then it means they see JESUS!
         What a comforting thought to know our little ones do always behold the face of Jesus to constantly comfort & reassure them in times of distress & fear. Even when alone in a dark room, they can still see Jesus!--And He can lead & comfort & guide them even when you're not there!

         152. It's amazing how children fight going to bed! It's really a lot like how people fight death. It's a sort of a death to have to go to bed & go to sleep, & children dread it, like old people who don't want to die.

         153. Children are USUALLY much more spiritually sensitive than most adults. They sense weird things, spiritual things, both in the darkness & the light. It's not JUST because the lights are out, except that the darkness seems to encourage that sort of thing. I don't blame the poor kids for being afraid of the dark, I don't like the dark, either. So I always believe in having a little light of some kind, a little night light from somewhere so when you open your eyes it's not pitch dark. I always sleep with a light on. Evil ghosts don't like lights. The good ghosts don't mind it. So if you don't want any bad ghosts prowling around in your room at night when you're sleeping, then leave a light on.
         I don't ever like a child to sleep in a room alone. I just really don't believe in it. I don't even believe in sleeping alone myself! There's something about the power of the Spirit of TWO people. God's dynamics of the Spirit really operate amazingly. The Lord says, "When one can only chase a thousand, TWO can put ten thousand to flight."--Deut.32:30. In other words, it doesn't just double your power, but QUINTUPLES it. I believe it, especially with a child.

         154. A baby may smile in his sleep while he watches spirit movies, if his parents are people of faith & trust, or he may scream in fright in his sleep while he sees horror movies, if his parents have a spirit of fear.

         155. In your sleep your body has time to repair & to build up your strength & replace certain energies & materials etc. While you're sleeping especially, or resting, it has a chance to build up that which you tore down while you were tearing around all over the place all day long. You used up a lot of energy, burned up cells, you even burned up building blocks like proteins & things like that that your body's composed of. All day long you're running around & using up energy & using up your body & in a sense actually tearing it down, wearing yourself out!

         156. Sleeping pills can kill you! Sleep is about as near death as you can get while you're still normal, & in a sense it's almost a form of death, & something that puts you a little MORE to sleep might just put you too FAR to sleep! Sometimes you can mix very bad deadly combinations & you might drift off into dreamland forever! It's a lot safer to trust the Lord!
