COMPUTER PROGRAMS

(Ask your CVC Instruction Coordinator for a listing of computer programs available through your local Family and Education Department Resource Center.)
There are various art programs available on the market. Some teach art techniques while others are computer programs used to generate computer art and graphics.
CorelDraw, for example, is a sophisticated and expensive computer graphics program and Corel PhotoPaint or Adobe Photoshop are advanced digital art programs. Students who master CorelDraw or Adobe Photoshop may apply up to 4 credits toward their Art Certificate requirements. Numerous reference books are available commercially that provide good instruction in the use of CorelDraw. Students should try and obtain the latest version possible (version 6.0, for Windows 95, is available as of this writing) and secure the use of a suitable computer and color monitor to work with this program.
There are also numerous other much less expensive programs that operate under Windows available on the market today that do a very nice job of creating graphics suitable for most uses, e.g.,
Windows Draw 4.0, Paintbrush, etc.
