CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

         Ten specialty certificates are available in the field of Communications:
         1. WRITING AND JOURNALISM
         2. PHOTOGRAPHY
         3. AUDIO RECORDING
         4. VIDEO PRODUCTION
         5. COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
         6. PUBLISHING AND PRINTING
         7. SIGN LANGUAGE
         8. FOREIGN LANGUAGE
         9. Also: FOREIGN LANGUAGE (Oral and written translations)
         10. TEACHING ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

         The basic course and experience requirements for certification in these areas are listed below. Credit evaluation for each course is indicated in brackets after the course.

1. WRITING AND JOURNALISM: 20 credits

Foundation requirements: 16 credits

Basic required courses: 10 credits
         COM JR-01 Writing and Editing [3]

         BUS OS-08 Proofreading [2]

PLUS: 6 additional credits chosen from the following courses
