CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

         The following specialty certificates are available to students in Industrial Arts:

         1. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
         2. CONSTRUCTION SKILLS
         3. MECHANICAL MAINTENANCE
         4. BASIC ELECTRONICS
         5. FAMILY DRIVER

         The basic course and experience requirements for certification in these areas are listed below. Credit evaluation for each course is indicated in brackets after the course.

1. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR: 20 credits

Foundation requirements: 16 credits

Basic required courses: 8 credits
         IND HM-01 Building Maintenance and Repair [3]
         IND HM-02 General Shop [3]
         IND HM-09 Shop Work Practical Skills [2]

        
PLUS: 8 additional credits from the following courses, or other building and repair skills and credits approved by your CVC Course Supervisor. (See point 2 below for examples.)
         IND HM-03 Advanced General Shop [.5 per piece of equipment, up to 5 credits]
         IND HM-04 House Painting (Indoor and Outdoor) [2]

PLUS: 10 additional credits from the following list of maintenance mechanic skills or other equipment repair skills and credits approved by your CVC Supervisor.

PLUS: 8 additional credits should be earned through learning about and doing installations and repairs, or independent study, as approved by your CVC Supervisor. To earn this certificate, the student must do additional independent study, using up-to-date manuals or courses related to different pieces of equipment.
