CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Six separate certificates are available to students in Child Care and Education.
         1. BABY CARE
         2. CHILD CARE
         3. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
         4. YOUTH COUNSELING (This certificate available for senior teens and adults only; 16 years and up.)
         5. PRIMARY EDUCATION
         6. SECONDARY EDUCATION

         The basic course and experience requirements for certification in these areas are listed below. Credit evaluation for each course is indicated in brackets after the course.

1. BABY CARE : 20 credits
Foundation requirements: 16 credits

         EDU BC-01 Pregnancy, Delivery and Mother Care [3]
         EDU BC-02 Newborn Care [3]
         EDU BC-03 Baby Care: Feeding and Nutrition [2]
         EDU BC-04 Baby Care: Exercising Baby [1]
         EDU BC-05 Baby Care: Learning and Play [2]
         EDU BC-06 Baby Care: Coping with Teething and Potty Training [2]
         EDU CC-01 The Challenge of Child Care [1]
         EDU CC-05 Child Supervision, Safety and First Aid [2]

Optional course but highly recommended:
         SUR FA-04 Caring for the Sick [2]
