PREFACE
"Praise Time!" contains songs which we believe are well known by the Family in general. This is by no means a complete collection of praise or love songs to the Lord, so please feel free to add more songs to the Index.
This songbooklet is designed for either personal or group praise times, therefore it has been adapted in the following ways:
* In as many songs as was appropriate, the words have been changed so that they are sung to Jesus, rather than about Jesus. Sometimes, however, you may find the original version of the song is more suitable for witnessing or when singing with other Christians who may be familiar with the traditional words.
* Only the verses which are most appropriate to praising or loving the Lord have been included, so in some cases, the songs have been shortened from the original.
* In other cases, the chords have been simplified from the original versions to allow the fledgling guitarist to be able to play these songs with as much ease as possible, and therefore be able to concentrate more on praising and loving the Lord. Generally, each song has been pitched in a key suitable to both group and personal singing. However, if you find a song is pitched in a key that is either too high or too low for you or your group, you may find it helpful to transpose or use a capo.
* Asterisks [in the printed version] have been placed next to chords that can be omitted to simplify the playing of the song.
* You will note that in some instances there are no song words below a chord. This indicates that the designated chord is played before the next word is sung, or after the previous word is sung.
* In the cases where a song has been previously published in a WS-produced songbook or tape, the reference to where the original words and chords may be found is listed to the right of the song title.
* Wherever possible, the words and music credits to the songs are included. Any omissions are a result of the songbook editors not having had this information available. We apologize if we were not able to identify your compositions. The Lord knows and will abundantly reward!
