PRAYER LIST 40   DO/TS    December 1996

January 1997, The Family, Zurich, Switzerland

Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men. He sent His Word and healed them. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. So He bringeth them unto their desired haven (Psalm 107:15,20a,29,30b).

Please use this list along with PL 35, the latest long-term list. Thank you!

For 14 years and up. Can be read with JETTs, but they shouldnt read it on their own. Selected prayer requests, answers to prayer and testimonies of answered prayer may be read to younger age groups as well, at parents and teachers discretion.

ANSWERED PRAYERS:

Asia:
         1. Jessica (of Sim and Liz) (PL 38:78): Legal work completed!

2. Tim Servus (of Cheerful) (PL 37:58): No major heart problems since appearing on the Prayer List!

3. Maria (6, of Byron and Marie) (PL 39:64): She has not had any seizures since we sent her prayer request in.

4. Steven (of Christina) (PL 32:36): Completely healed of knee pains.

5. Joy Celeste (PL 38:76): I sent a prayer request for the healing of a cartilage growth on my right wrist (known as ganglion) which was very painful. One morning, much to our amazement, it was just gone! The little protruding growth which was so uncomfortable and hindered my work had disappeared. Praise You Jesus! This whole incident has given me more faith to simply believe and pray more earnestly for the dear ones on the Prayer List!

North America:
         6. David (18, of David and Charity) (PL 39:69): His parents write, We are so thankful for all of your prayers for David! The Lord has done so many wonderful miracles in his recovery that we are just blown away. Im going to give you the doctors original prognosis and then what his prognosis is today. Originally the doctor said that David would not be able to walk again and would be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Due to the nature of his injury, he would not be able to urinate without a catheter and would not regain function of his bladder and bowels as well as his sexual functions. The current prognosis is that David will not need a wheelchair and will most likely be walking with the help of a walker or crutches, and may not even need these in the future! David has regained much feeling in his legs and his lower body. He will be attending therapy as an outpatient for the months to come. This whole experience has been such a blessing to all of our family. Thank you for your prayers. (See prayer request #67.)

7. Abner (5, of Jared and Rebecca) (PL 36:90): We had previously asked for prayer for Abner, who had tubes put in his ears to enable him to hear better and to enable water to drain out of his small ear canals. He was not supposed to get his ears wet during this time. However, the day before his next check-up, he went swimming without his ear plugs. I was so discouraged as I went to the doctors office, but the doctor happily informed me that he had no water in his ears at all! His teachers also informed me that Abner is doing wonderfully in school and no longer needs the help of an assistant. This is all a result of our Familys wonderful prayers!
         8. Rufus Reuben (PL 29:128): Healed from Graves disease (hyperthyroidism).

9. Sheri Smiles (PL 12:138): Eleven years ago I had a ruptured disc. In recent years I had put my name on the Prayer List several times. Recently I had an MRI (scan) and the doctor was amazed at how the disc is back in place. Though there is some damage and I still have problems with my back, she was amazed that it healed so well, which it was never supposed to. Hallelujah!

10. Ben (PL 31:115): Digestion is better since being on the Prayer List!

South America:

11. Gloria (of Jos) (PL39:110): She has recuperated and is doing better after being hospitalized for a fallopian tube pregnancy.

12. Miguel VS (of Clara) (PL 38:40): Thank you very much for your prayers for my health. The Lord is working in miraculous ways and my blood count went up, from 20,000 to 100,000! Ive been around 20,000 for the last 6 months, having to take heavy doses of cortisone, to no avail. I changed the treatment and the Lord blessed it tremendously and Im almost back to normal! Im so thankful for our wonderful Familys prayers! Please pray that I can go back up to a normal level and stop all treatments altogether! I also wanted to ask for prayer for my sleep, as I havent been able to sleep for a long time. Thank you so much! I really love you! (From SACRO: We heard recently that he has once again had a relapse and his blood count has gone way down again, but is continuing his fight for healing and is in need of all of our Familys prayers.)

13. Brazil: An investigation by the Minors Judge office which started three years ago in the aftermath of the Argentina persecution, has now been closed! Things looked bleak for awhile but a new district attorney was appointed to the case. He thoroughly studied it and then wrote a document vindicating us and finally closed the case! Praise God!

Europe and Africa:

14. Crystal (of Peter) (PL38:3): An infected muscle in my right arm which had been bothering me for over a year was completely healed immediately after the request appeared in the Prayer List.

15. Domie (2, of Phillip and Kasia) (PL 36:129): Her allergy is doing much better.

16. Benji (baby, of Phillip and Kasia) (PL 36:127): Downs syndrome. He is developing properly and the doctors are amazed how fast he is growing, changing and learning!

17. Heidi (PL 37:107): She has been suffering from RSD, a problem with the nervous system. After three months in bed, Heidis leg is starting to get better. She is now able to get around on crutches. Her leg is still painful, but for shorter periods she can go without her crutches and she is learning the dance steps for the Christmas program! We are so thankful for the Lords healing touch.

Pacific:

18. Sara (PL 36:180): Her strong headaches are much better now.

19. Christopher (PL 36:167): Asthma problems have drastically decreased since his request came out.

MAMA AND PETER
         26. Mama: Thanks to your prayers, after several extended periods and nearly continual bleeding for months, Mamas bleeding slowed down considerably, and then she went for 6 weeks without having a period or bleeding at all! Praise the Lord! She has just begun her period again, so please continue to pray that her periods will be normal, as when she bleeds for such long periods of time it takes a considerable toll on her health in general.
Another big miracle is that Mama has been able to exercise a lot more this past month, having daily exercise for an hour or more, something she hasnt been strong enough to do in years! She has been using her eyes more than usual, and even though her eyes continue to be sore, the Lord has miraculously kept her from headaches, which she is very prone to! What an answer to prayer! Thank you for your continue prayers. Please keep praying that shell be able to continue to get good daily exercise, and will stay free of headaches or colds, which put a further strain on her already very sore eye condition.

NOTICES AND TESTIMONIES OF ANSWERED PRAYER

From Tommy, Juan and Maria, South America:
Two major healing miracles occurred this month. The first involved a friend of one our Bible students who had a case of terminal cancer. He had lost most of his hair and was told he had only a couple of months to live. After we prayed for him in one of our evening Bible studies, he was healed. He has lost his pale look, his hair has grown back, and he has no pain! A miracle!
This same student prayed for another friend who had been suffering for years with ovarian cysts that had reached the point of hemorrhaging. She was desperate, and right before going in for surgery, H. (our Bible student friend) told her about the power of prayer and prayed for her on the spot. We prayed again in our Friday night Bible study, and the next day the woman called H. with the amazing results: all six malignant cysts had disappeared, leaving the doctors scratching their heads in disbelief! This woman was crying for joy over the phone and now wants to host a new Bible study group in her home.

From Zacarias and Lucero, South America:
We prayed for a girl who had a tumor on the right side of her face that was causing breathing difficulties and lots of pain. The sinusitis she had for years seemed to be the cause of the tumor. The doctors said she needed an operation to avoid more complications. When we prayed for her that night, we asked for immediate healing and claimed the Lords promises. The same night she had a raging fever and the tumor dissolved naturally. The next day, the swelling completely disappeared, she was able to breathe, and was completely healed. TTL!

From Charity, India:
I have been fighting quite a lot of battles with my health, having had attacks of asthma off and on. I know that through it all the Lord is trying to help me see how much I need Him, and that I just need to let go and lean on His arms. Lord help me, Im so often struggling and trying to be strong. Every time I tried to be strong in myself, I just felt worse and also got really discouraged about not getting better and being able to help on the schedule, especially with the Home being so tight personnel-wise already.
The Praise Kisses were a real help to me during those times. I tried to read them to the Lord with my whole heart and would get very convicted, as often it would say, I want to give You my time and everything I have. I knew that I had been murmuring in my heart about not being able to get out of bed and back into action. I wasnt really cherishing my time with the Lord this way, and I asked the Lord to forgive me. I noticed that when I tried to just relax and picture myself lying in the Lords arms, then often I felt much better physically. Praise the Lord! Now I have the Praise Kisses lying right next to my bed and I read a few first thing in the morning. Besides helping me to express my love and praise to the Lord, they are also very feeding and inspiring!

From Steven and Christina, India:
One night Christina woke up with severe pain in her lower abdomen. She couldnt move and didnt know if she could make it till the morning. She woke Steven up to pray with her for healing. Being in India and quite a ways from any good hospital, it had to take a miracle. She promised the Lord that shed testify of the healing if He healed her and shed be more faithful to pray for others who need healing. After drifting into sleep, she woke up with the pain completely gone! Thank the Lord!

Pray Before You Play!
From Amy (9, of Esther and Nathanael), South Africa:
Hi, Im Amy and I want to tell you a little story about how Jesus healed me from a bad accident. I hope you enjoy my exciting story.
One day in the Botanical Gardens, I was roller-blading on the pavement. It was kinda slippery as it had just rained. My sister and I were going up and down a little hill and we were going very fast. I was holding on to Heidi when I felt that I was falling and BOOM, I was unconscious.
Mommy took me to the hospital and the doctors said that my collarbone was fractured. They told me to stay in the hospital, as they didnt know how my head was doing. It didnt look too good.
Everybody at home was praying for me. Even though the doctors thought my head was fractured, when they looked at it the next day they said it was totally fine! I had my arm in a sling for a few weeks after that, but thank You Jesus, He healed me super well.
Also, when I looked in the mirror, I saw I was missing half my tooth, and it could have been real bad, but Jesus gave me a sweet dentist to fix my front adult tooth.
I am very thankful that I got healed up so quickly, and that Jesus helped me to not be too seriously hurt. But I learned to always pray before I play!
         I love you all!
         (
Editors note: Thank you Amy for this wonderful testimony of the Lords protection. And to all of you avid rollerbladers, please remember that you need to be prayerful and careful. And part of being careful is always wearing protective geara helmet and knee, wrist and elbow padswhile engaging in this sport! And dont rollerblade on wet slippery pavements, or you may regret it. Rollerblading accidents can be severe and debilitating, and seriously hinder your work for the Lord! Take good care of yourself, you belong to Him!)

Details on Sammys Illness and Update on Prayer Request. (See Prayer Request #25.)
From Lily, North America:
It all began just over a year ago when we found out Sam (then nine) had cancer, and so began our journey through the Jordan.
He had a massive tumor in his chest that was rapidly closing his windpipe, which was down to an opening the size of a straw! The type of cancer he had, lymphoma, grows very quickly. At that point we didnt know if the Lord was going to take him Home. The Lord gave him great grace and great faith in prayer during that time. We were desperate for the Lords guidance, as the doctors had placed him in ICU, due to his shrinking windpipe and wanted to begin chemotherapy immediately to try to shrink the tumor.
The Lord gave us His encouraging Words: We have not an High Priest Who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against powers, against principalities, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Be not afraid, for it is not your fight only, but it is My fight. You must stand strong and be vigilant, for your adversary the Devil walketh about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Lift [Sammy] up in prayer, bathe him in prayer, envelope him in prayer, for the Enemy will fight. Be strong and of good courage, for I have overcome the Enemy, but you must do your part to lift him up in prayer. He is in My care; so have I placed him in the hands of those who care for him, but you must pray for them and follow their counsel.
The Lord began to answer the question of why. He had lessons of prayer for us to learn, an area which had been a weakness for us, as we were in a habit of going too fast, and leaning too much to our own understanding and the arm of the flesh.
During that month in the hospital with Sam, everything depended on prayer. We had entered a world where time seems to stand still, and the Lord was teaching us the only way to learn to be prayerful was to slow it downand I mean way down! At one point I couldnt read or pray any more. I felt totally spent and I just sat in my chair, curled up with my pillow and rebuked the Devil for over an hour.
Then the doctor came in and asked to talk to me. As we were talking in the hall, the door opened and out came Sam, who started walking up and down the hall, pushing his IV unit. We both just stood there amazed, as it was the first time Sam had shown any fight to even get out of bed for fear of pain if he triedand here he had gotten up and dressed and was walking around like the other kids. The Lord was teaching me that prayer isnt the least you can do, but the most you can do, as I realized the time spent rebuking the Devil and fighting in the Spirit had broken the fear and the Enemys oppression over Sam.
The doctors began the treatment and the tumor dissolved. As there is such a high rate of lymphoma returning, they said he would need to continue with the chemotherapy for two years. So he has continued weekly treatments, which has been a battle of trusting that even if they shall drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them (Mark.16:18), a verse weve clung to. One of the biggest tests has been that of trusting that the Lord will keep him and bring him through without even the smell of smoke.
From the beginning, the Lord told us to follow the doctors counsel, as they were in His hands. We realized nothing happens by accident, and it has been something the Lords taken us through to teach us many lessons (and Sam as well).
In July, Sam came down with shingles and we had to stay in the hospital for 10 days. During this time, Sam got pretty discouraged, as he had a high fever, earache and low blood pressure. I shared with him about rebuking the Devil and fighting his lies and discouraging thoughts. I had to leave the room for a few minutes, and when I came back Sam was like a different person. His eyes and face were shining and he was at peace. He then related to us a vision he had received of the angels disposing of the demons that were trying to get him. It sounded so far out, but who was I to questionhis fever was gone, his blood pressure was normal and his ear didnt hurt! TYJ!
Another major lesson the Lords been teaching us is to not be so accomplishment-oriented, but to have the right priorities of loving Jesus and others and to have more outgoing concern, which is hard to do if were so busy accomplishing things. We realize we are still a long ways from what the Lord wants us to be, but at least Hes got our attention! We are so thankful for the New Wine, especially the garment of prophecy and the Loving Jesus revelation. It is saving us, literally.
We are just so thankful for our Family, and know we couldnt have made it this far without everyones prayers and support. Were very appreciative of Josiah and Joy, Mercy and Matt and Joy who have cared for our kids as their own during this timeunselfishly and sacrificially living the One Wife vision. God bless them! Thank you for your prayers.

GREATER THINGS THAN THESE SHALL YE DO.
From Tim Martin (22) and Daniel (25), Eastern Europe:
We were sitting in the park, having a little praise time and prayer vigil in the middle of our witnessing day, when our attention was caught by a young man on the bench in front of us. He seemed to be having sudden pain; his face was turning red, he was gasping for air and we thought that he was having a heart attack. So we quickly went over to him and tried to help. He couldnt talk at first, but then started answering our questions. We asked if we should take him to a hospital or call for a doctor, but he whispered that this happens often with him and will hopefully pass soon. We offered to pray for his healing. He agreed and so we prayed for him together. He repeated the Salvation prayer with us and also was filled with the Holy Spirit.
A few minutes later he began getting better and could talk with us more freely. It turned out that he was aware that his sickness was not physical, but spiritual. He said he was plagued by a bad spirit. Both of us had had the same impression! Everything had started with his increased fascination for horror movies a couple of years back. At one point he felt like some dark power entered into his life and started plaguing him from then on. Nothing could help, none of the doctors. This day he had his worst experience yet; he had felt like it was going to kill him!
Then amazingly, after about ten minutes of our conversation and showing him the verses from the Bible that he has Jesus in his heart after praying with us, he suddenly exclaimed that he feels whole again! What a miracle! You could definitely see the light in his eyes and we poured more Word into him about Jesus power and light! We told him that now he had to fill the empty space in his soul with Gods Spirit and he was eager to do it! It was a wonderful testimony to both of us, especially because just that morning we had read parts from the Bible where the Lord was doing miracles and helping people and we were wondering if it could still be done today. The same day the Lord gave us this example that strengthened our faith and showed us that He that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do (John 14:12).
