PRAYER LIST 39   DO/TS    November 1996
December 1996, The Family, Zurich, Switzerland

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth. ... The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul" (Psa.121:1,2,5,6).

Please use this list along with PL 35, the latest long-term list. Thank you!

For 14 years and up. Can be read with JETTs, but they shouldn't read it on their own. Selected prayer requests, answers to prayer and testimonies of answered prayer may be read to younger age groups as well, at parents and teachers' discretion.

ANSWERED PRAYERS
Asia:

1. Hannah (of Philip) (PL 37:46): Healed of pain in her left kidney! Hannah writes, "For two months in a row I had severe attacks of pain in my left kidney area, which caused me to be quite sick for a week at a time. The doctors thought that it might be a kidney stone, so I sent in my prayer request and have not had any pain since. It's such a blessing to be delivered!"

2. Abner (PL 29:290): "Since my prayer request appeared in the Prayer List nine months ago, the pain in my knee has disappeared! I'm also healed of my allergy and swellings. Thank you, dear Family, for your prayers!"

North America:

3. Rose (of Jay) (PL 34:63): Has not had any major asthma attacks for several weeks.

4. James (baby, of Micaiah and Genty) (PL 36:62): "Thank you for your prayers for little James, born three months premature. He had to overcome quite a few obstacles during his stay in the newborn intensive care unit, including breathing problems, a heart murmur, various infections, and even a hernia operation! But he made it, and at just about what was his normal due date, he was allowed to come home, in answer to many prayers and the wonderful care and attention he received from some precious doctors, nurses, and staff. On his incubator, we put a picture of our family of 10 children, plus Mom and Dad with the caption, 'We love you, James, and are waiting to hold you in our arms!' With each sign of progress the staff rejoiced with us, as they knew a lot of people were praying for this little guy." (See prayer request #71.)

5. Mexico (PL 38:82): A Home in Mexico reports, "Since we asked for prayer for rain, it has been raining so much that there's now no more drought. We told some of our friends that we had prayed for the rain and it has been a great testimony to them, as it's not even the rainy season."

6. Bozrah and Ruth (PL 17:122): Legal situation has been resolved and they have received all their necessary legal documents.

20. Rose (of Aaron): "I've been healed of a fungus on my toe that I've had for almost two years. According to the doctor, it could only be cleared up with pills, which have serious side-effects. But now the swelling and hard lumps are practically gone, and my toe even looks normal. Praise the Lord! Also, I had Hepatitis B many years ago and my liver was affected, but the Lord is healing my liver as I feel much better than I've felt in years."

22. Eman (11, of Matthew and Claire) (PL 33:205): In answer to prayer, the swollen lumps caused by an accumulation of liquid in his ankle joints are decreasing and nearly gone, and he has no more pain or discomfort! The doctor who examined him said this could only be helped with an operation, but God has shown otherwise.

BACKGROUND OF VANESSA'S INJURIES (see prayer request #70):
Ezra (SGA), Leilani (13), and Vanessa (11) (all children of Isaiah and Faith, TSers in Canada) were in their car when their vehicle was broadsided. Ezra had no physical injuries, while Leilani had superficial wounds and was released from the hospital right away. Vanessa sustained the worst injuries. She was hospitalized with serious head injuries and broken collarbones, and continued to slip in and out of a coma. After a day, she came out of the coma (an answer to prayer), had her collarbones set and soon after was allowed to go home. She is doing a lot better.
She was in to see the neurosurgeon and had a CAT scan. Thankfully there is no damage to the brain. She has a slight short-term memory loss however. She has no memory of the accident or the time she spent in the hospital. The neurosurgeon said that this often takes about a month to get over. She broke both collarbonesone badly and one slightlyso she is in a brace, but she is quite mobile and can get around all right. She has a bad limp with her left leg. They took x-rays but can't detect anything wrong with her bones. They assume that some of her soft tissue was slightly damaged through twisting. Your prayers are very appreciated.

BACKGROUND OF PHILIP'S ACCIDENT (see prayer request #38)
Philip was recently knocked unconscious and sustained a compound fracture of his femur (thighbone) after being involved in a water scooter accident.
Jeremiah (YA) and Philip were racing on water scooters. Jeremiah happened to look the other way for a split second at the same time that Philip cut in on Jeremiah, hitting him broadside. Jeremiah went headlong into the water. When he surfaced, he found Philip floating unconscious, face down in the water. They were in deep water, and it was quite a struggle to get Philip to shore. Thank the Lord, someone passing by on another scooter saw they were in distress and came to help. Philip's femur (thighbone) was broken in half, and he was slipping in and out of consciousness for about 24 hours. Jeremiah was not injured.
The doctors did a brain scan to determine if there were any head injuries. They also operated on Philip and inserted a pin and metal plate to join the bone back together. After 24 hours Philip regained consciousness, and was able to have a conversation with his parents. He doesn't remember anything about the accident, though his memory of past events is quite clear. The doctors are very pleased with his progress thus far, and consider it a miracle that he is doing so well. Thank the Lord for His mercy!
He is not be able to walk on his leg, and will need to use crutches for a while. It seems he will have to have this plate in place for about one year to give time for the fracture to heal.

MORE INFORMATION ON DAVID'S ACCIDENT AND PROGRESS
From David and Charity, North America:
At the time of his accident, David was riding his motorcycle on his way to work. Apparently he was resetting his odometer (an instrument that shows how far you've gone) while driving and lost control. The motorcycle slid and David was thrown onto the corner of a brick building. The impact crushed a vertebrae, and some of the nerves to his legs were torn out by the roots. Three specialists operated on David for nine hours, removing the smashed pieces of bone and replacing the damaged bone with a little titanium box, and a piece grafted from David's hip bone. It was very dangerous and delicate surgery. The Lord blessed David with the best doctors in the surrounding area, and the Lord anointed them.
The doctors told David that the motor nerves to his legs (the nerves that control movement) were all pulled out by the roots, and since they do not have the technology to repair this, they diagnosed him as permanently paralyzed from the waist down. However, a few days ago he actually bent one of his legs by himselfa medical impossibility! We know it's only the Lord and an answer to the many, many prayers that have gone up to the Lord for his healing!
We will have to move into a larger house, as the one that we are in now is much too small and was only temporary until we were able to leave for Japan, which we have now postponed. Please pray for the Lord to open the door for bigger housing. After David had his accident, we all got together to hear from the Lord, and we received many wonderful promises, including a message from Hope, David's mother, who went to be with the Lord three years ago. We are expecting miracles and know that the Lord is going to shock the doctors with the results!
(From a later report:) On the 30th of October, David was released from the hospital. He will continue as an outpatient, going daily to the hospital for therapy. Yesterday he was able to walkwith the aid of a walkertwo times, about 50 feet each time, and his therapist is expecting him to be able to do without a wheelchair eventually. She said that his recovery is a miracle! We can't thank everyone enough for their prayers. David is still experiencing pain and can only sit upright for about 30 minutes at a time, so we would like to ask for your prayers for the pain to subside and for him to be able to get up and around without pain and fatigue.
It has been such an inspiration to see David make such good progress and to see the Word fulfilled before our eyes. Please keep him and us in your prayers. Thanks so much.
