PRAYER LIST 31   DO       April 1996

Copyright May 1996, The Family, Zurich, Switzerland

"Seek the Lord, and His strength; seek His face evermore. Remember His marvelous works that He hath done; His wonders, and the judgements of His mouth" (Psalm 105:4,5).

Please use this list along with PL 25, the latest long-term list. Thank you!

For 14 years and up. Although JETTs are not permitted to read the Prayer Lists on their own, you parents and teachers may read it with them during Word time, or share prayer requests with them when having prayer time. Selected prayer requests, answers to prayer and testimonies of answered prayer may be read to younger age groups as well, at your discretion. Please be prayerful and use wisdom in what you share with JETTs and children. Be sure to present prayer requests in a positive spirit, explain things and answer any questions they may have.

ANSWERED PRAYERS

1. Mama (PL 30:45): Thanks to your prayers against excessive bleeding during periods, Mama's last two periods have been normal, with no heavy bleeding like her previous ones. This is a real blessing, as the heavy bleeding in previous months had greatly weakened Mama, making it difficult for her to get her work done. This past month has been an especially busy time for her, so your prayers for her health have been a big help in providing her with the strength needed to do her work. Thank you!

Pacific:

2. Noe and Joy (PL 29:249): "After putting our daughter Anna (8) on the international Prayer List for clear speech, the Lord answered by leading us to a source of some very good counsel and practical help for her, which we had been seeking for a very long time prior to our dear Family's prayers."

3. Magdalene (PL 28:235): "For months and months two of my fingers were continuously infected and filling up with puss, to the point that it was quite painful, and a real hindrance to my work. But from the moment my prayer request appeared on the international Prayer List, my fingers have gradually been healing up, and haven't filled up with puss even once! All glory to Jesus, and thanks for all your prayers!"

4. Daniel (PL 28:232): The pain in his feet has almost completely disappeared, and his back pain is getting better.

21. Seth (of Lily) (PL 28:336): Hernia healed after over a year of pain and discomfort.

22. Promise (Bileam) (PL 27:222): "I had been experiencing pain in my side for almost a year, and you could even see a slight swollen spot on my side. I chose to trust the Lord for healing. Then, right after my prayer request was published in the Prayer List, I realized that I wasn't waking up anymore during the night and that the pain wasn't bothering me during the day either! Every once in awhile I'll feel a slight pain, but I just take it as a reminder to thank the Lord for His healing and how faithful He is."

23. Serena (PL 29:95): "My migraine headaches are almost non-existent compared to having had to fight for healing daily against them. This was going on for months, but after my request came out in the Continental Prayer List, and with laying on of hands by those in my Home, it was an immediate healing!"

37. South Africa (PL 28:157): "In answer to our prayer request, South Africa received record rainfall. For the first time in seven years, the water reservoirs in the country are filled to their full capacity. A real miracle!"

38. Jonathan (of Mary) (PL 27:107): "Thanks to all for praying for me and the operation on my eye. The operation went very well and was successful in re-attaching my retina to its proper position. The Lord supplied lots of helpful doctors who had a special concern for me, and also worked out a good discount for my stay in the hospital. So everything went well!--Just as you prayed!" (Jonathan's successful operation and healing is quite a miracle, as his eye condition was very serious and he risked losing the use of his eye altogether. He already had very poor eyesight in his other eye.)

39. Lorraine (YA) (PL 29:212): (Lorraine broke her leg while in Russia. Because of the severity of the break, she had to be hospitalized in traction for a number of weeks before the doctors could even put a cast on her leg.) "The Lord has had his hand in the whole situation and many of the complications which could have happened, did not, thanks to the Family's prayers! I recently saw a specialist while I was in Western Europe, and everything he told me was positive. He was impressed at how well the wound had healed and the progress I had made in walking without feeling pain. He mentioned that it usually takes longer than it's taken me. I want to acknowledge that I'm 100% certain that my progress and healing is in answer to prayer. Seeing my name in the Prayer List gave me so much reassurance. It's something that's helped me pull through the difficulties of being dependent on crutches for so long."

40. Anthony and Talitha (PL 30:40): (Baby Timothy was born with some heart defects and water on his brain.) "Our baby Timothy is doing better than the doctors expected, and is still eating well and has gained a little weight (at seven weeks, he has just regained the weight he lost before and is back to his birth weight). His kidneys are functioning well, the salt level in his body has gone down and the water around his brain has drained. Thank the Lord, the open heart surgery he had to undergo was successful! Praise the Lord, and thank you so much for your prayers!"

PRAYER REQUESTS

CRITICAL OR LIFE-AND-DEATH SITUATIONS:

43. Faith (of Philip), Asia: Breast cancer, which has now spread to her bones and back. Against pain in her lower back, hips and legs which makes it difficult for her to walk and sit down. Continued faith and grace for her, Philip and the children. Thank the Lord, Faith has been in very good spirits, and a wonderful sample to many. Those who know her well have commented how this experience has caused her to radiate with the Lord's love and sweetness. God bless her!

44. Joy (of Mark), North America: Cancer of the cervix, which has also spread outside of the uterus. For miraculous healing, protection from side-effects of long-term radiation treatment, especially on her bowels and urinary tract. Deliverance from pain. (See testimony of progress on page 13!)

45. Sara (of Nehemiah), North America: Leaking capillaries behind the retina of her eyes. Doctors don't know much about it, nor what causes it, but they say that if the bleeding doesn't stop, they will need to use laser surgery in order to cauterize the capillaries. This could leave her with permanent loss of vision. At present, she has distorted vision in one eye, as the leakage was massive. While there is leakage in the other eye, it hasn't yet affected her vision in that eye.

46. Faith (of Marcos), South America: Cervical cancer.

NOTICES AND TESTIMONIES OF ANSWERED PRAYER!

Jerusalem (of Josue) Graduates
Our dear Mexican sister Jerusalem, mated to Josue, went to her Heavenly reward on March 24. We haven't received full details of how she went to be with the Lord or the exact cause of death, but apparently a month earlier she had a sudden attack of high blood pressure. At that time she was taken to the hospital for various tests, but returned home after several hours, as apparently no hospitalization was necessary. She remained sick for some time, mainly with a serious headache. She was at times semi-conscious and unable to eat, but with lots of prayer, her condition remained fairly stable. Several doctors that were consulted confirmed that she was suffering from hypertension and was "in transition," and that she would fully recuperate within two weeks or so.
Before her sudden death, Jerusalem started to get better, and was back to full consciousness, eating solid foods again, but it seems that the Lord had prepared the hearts of her family and Home that He might be calling her to go on to a better Place. They write: "She had been doing so much better in the last few days before her departure. She was beginning to go back on solid foods and was back to consciousness. It was the mercy of the Lord so we could all enjoy her smile and happy spirit again and she could say good bye to her loved ones. A week ago we had received prophecies that the Lord might want to take her to Heaven, so we were all prepared to let her go if that were to happen, even Josue. He has been a real fighter through it all. God bless him! Today we had a beautiful funeral and it was a real testimony to all her relatives that attended."
We would like to extend our love and prayers to you, dear Josue, and to your and Jerusalem's children. We know that losing someone so close to you is very difficult, but we pray that the healing balm of the Lord's great Love and comfort will fill your hearts and wash away any sadness. Thank the Lord that we can rejoice together in knowing that Jerusalem is certainly in a better Place, happier than ever before, free of the burdens and constraints of this life, and no doubt working to help you and other dear Family members on earth. She faithfully gave her life in service to the Lord while on earth, and she's now receiving a great reward in Heaven! Praise the Lord!

Instant Healing through Loving Jesus!
(The following is from one of our WS pubs workers who was experiencing severe and very painful internal hemorrhoids. It is taken from her letter to Mama:) Thank you for your sweet concern and all your prayers. It meant so much to me to know that you all were fighting in prayer for me. I've always loved our Family so much, but over the last few days of this affliction, a number of times I just cried from seeing and experiencing how wonderful everyone here is, and how much love, prayer and support I received from the dear ones around me. Nowhere else in the world could anyone have more loving support than in the Family.
Because of the pain and intense pressure I was experiencing in my whole bottom area, I had been off my feet and bedridden for nearly a week. I was taking the vitamins and ointment for hemorrhoids, but there seemed to be no marked improvement, even though I'd been in bed all this time. There was a constant strong throbbing pain, and the least bit of walking, even the necessary trips to the bathroom were very, very painful. After a visit to a clinic, the doctor confirmed that I indeed had a bad case of hemorrhoids; but other than an ointment, he just encouraged me to ride it out and stay off my feet.
So after five days in bed, I was awake all last night, not being able to sleep because of the pain. The pain was even overriding the aspirin I was taking. Up until this point, my one relief was being able to sit in a hot bath, which seems to relieve hemorrhoid pain. But then last night, even though I took five baths during the course of the night, not even the heat from the baths was causing any sort of surcease from the pain. Lord help me, but at that point I just broke down crying over the side of the bathtub, crying out to the Lord and desperately pleading with Him to heal me and give me relief.
I finally struggled to my room from the bathroom at 6 a.m., just as my roommate was getting out of bed, and I asked him to pray over me again. I must say that my faith was at a pretty low ebb at that point, and I even remarked to my roommate that I didn't think I was going to be healed within two weeks at this rate. (Through all this, my sweet roommate has waited on me hand and foot, reading to me, praying with me and bringing me coffee, food and all. What a sweet and kind roomie he is!)
Now comes the exciting part. After my roommate left, I picked up the new "Loving Jesus Jewels" GN and read through all the beautiful love words we can say to Jesus. I was reading aloud to Jesus all those words. I had found throughout this time of affliction when the pain would get real bad, if I visualized Jesus and focused intensely on loving and talking to Him, that it did indeed somewhat bypass the pain. It kind of overrode the passion of the pain with the passion of intense intimacy with Him, if you know what I mean. It's hard to explain, but it worked.
Anyway, as I was saying these love words to Jesus, just out of nowhere there was a great gushing from my vagina and out came all this fluid! There were no cramps or pain with it, it just came out effortlessly. It was amazing--especially since I was supposed to be having problems with my
bottom, ha! It wasn't blood, and I'm in the very middle of my cycle, so it wasn't a period or miscarriage or anything like that. I was frantically trying to catch it all with tissues, when just as suddenly as it had started, it stopped!
It was at this point that I realized that all the pain in my body was completely and entirely gone!! I jumped out of bed and for the first time in five days I could stand up straight, with no pressure or pain whatsoever! You should have seen me! I was jumping and dancing around the room praising the Lord for His wonderful touch of healing! I just knew it was as a result of everyone's prayers for me, because as I mentioned before, my faith was at a pretty low ebb at this point. I was so excited by this "divine touch!"
So even though this was but a "light affliction for a moment," it certainly is an experience I'll never forget! I'm calling it my "agony and ecstasy" experience--the agony of the pain, and the ecstasy of the healing, ha! I've personally never experienced such a miraculous healing! It must have been all that concentrated prayer power that literally just zapped and expelled whatever was causing pain in my body. Ever since then, I've been completely healed of all and any symptoms or discomforts or feelings of hemorrhoids or vaginal pain whatsoever. I'm completely normal again. It feels so good!
I'm not sure exactly what I had now. Maybe it was an infection as a side-effect of the hemorrhoids, I don't know. But I certainly do know it was only the Lord and everyone's prayers that healed me, and all glory goes to Him! Hallelujah!

More Healing Testimonies
From Joy (of Mark), USA:
I had been hospitalized for 7 weeks while pregnant, due to heavy bleeding and pain from cervical cancer. I was on heavy medication for the pain, bleeding, etc., and we were told that even if the baby managed to stay in my womb long enough to survive the birth, she would surely have to be in intensive care for quite a while and would go through drug (medicine) withdrawals. We claimed "through the fire without even the smell of smoke," and the Lord did an absolute miracle! Noelle was safely delivered 1 month early by C-section. She weighed 7.7 lbs. and went straight to the regular baby nursery. She later ended up in the newborn intensive care for just two days, due to a little irregular breathing. She never had one symptom of drug withdrawals, and is beautiful and healthy in every way.
I'm also feeling much stronger, and am off all medicine except some pain killers, and I'm hardly taking any of those compared to what I was on before. Best of all, the tumor that was on my cervix, which was about the size of a grapefruit, has shrunk to the size of a pingpong ball! I know it's just because so many people have been praying for me. Thank you all so, so much! ILY!

From Victory, India:
When I first got sick with a middle ear infection, I couldn't walk on my own and was feeling very dizzy and nauseous, unable to concentrate or read. I went to the doctor, who gave me some treatment. I felt a little bit better, but the infection came back despite the medicine. Because of the severe dizziness, I wasn't able to sleep flat on my back, and for many months I had to go to sleep with many pillows, which was very uncomfortable. I also had to have people take me to the toilet, which of course was very humbling.
The Lord was testing my faith in many ways, and even though it was a difficult time in my life, now I am thankful for all the times that I learned to fight against discouragement, as I was unable to do very much for Him. Many nights when I couldn't sleep, He was a very present help in time of trouble. In the meantime, I had visited a few doctors, but they didn't seem to help so much.
After five months of having this sickness, we sent a prayer request to the international Prayer List. Right after that, the Lord led me to a very nice doctor who understood the problem right away, and was very positive. Even though I had to take some medication, the Lord answered desperate prayer, and now, after so many months, I am able to sleep normally again, and can read and concentrate better. The Letter the Lord gave me was "Endure Hardness." He has taught me to really fight, even if I didn't see the answer right away.
Another lesson I learnt was the importance of our environment while we are sick. If it is positive and encouraging, the Lord can heal us much quicker, and it also has an effect on our bodies. But if we worry or fear, the healing process can take much longer. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me and who patiently helped me during this time. TTL for a wonderful Family!

From Vicky (of David Newman),Ecuador:
The Lord miraculously healed me of a tumor in my right ovary. Also, my baby was born in perfect health, despite the fact that I had undergone x-rays during the early days of my pregnancy, trying to find the cause of the bleeding and pain I was experiencing, not knowing I was pregnant.
The main lesson I learned was to put my faith in the Lord, and that the Word is the best remedy for everything. The doctor wanted to operate to remove my tumor, and at first I was considering it. But after reading the Word about healing, the Lord showed me not to get the operation, especially since I thought I might be pregnant. The Lord helped me to trust Him, and now I'm very thankful for another sign of His immense Love and mercy in having removed the tumor Himself, and given me a healthy baby!

Healing Miracles as a Witness!
From Clara and Jonatan, Colombia:
I attended a Catholic prayer meeting, the theme of which was faith. There were about two dozen people there. One 25-year-old lady asked for prayer to be healed of cancer, so they asked me (Clara) to pray for her. At first I felt like I didn't have enough faith for healing, but the faith of those people encouraged me to go ahead. So I laid hands on her, and as I did, I was very moved in the Spirit.
At the next meeting, this lady came to me with tears in her eyes and said that the Lord was answering my prayers for her, as the doctors did new tests and the cancer was disappearing! This reminded me of how Mama has told us that the Lord wants to give us the gift of healing, and all we have to do is obey Him, step out by faith and receive it.

From Mary, Pakistan:
One of our faithful supporters recently suffered a stroke. He was seriously paralyzed and couldn't use his left arm or leg, wasn't able to walk, etc. Our Home got together and prayed for him, claiming the Lord's healing touch in his life. The Lord truly did a miracle and restored this man's health. Even the doctors were testifying that, "This is a miracle. Someone must have been praying for you." The doctor had initially said that with the kind of stroke he had, it would take six months to a year before he could start functioning normally again. But after only one month and a half, he was back at work, and could walk again and use his arm without much problem!
He gave the Lord all the credit and glory, and said the Lord taught him the lesson of stopping, as when flat on his back there was no other way to look but up.

From Gabriel and Mary, Colombia:
A friend came to our Church of Love and asked for prayer for healing of kidney stones. We prayed for her, but she didn't seem to get better right away, so she went to the hospital to be operated on. Just before the operation, when they had already given her the anesthesia, the doctors wanted to double-check where the stones were, to make sure they operated in the right spot. So they did a probe, and to their surprise they didn't find any stones! They had disappeared! When she woke up thinking that she had been operated on, she was told that the operation wasn't necessary. What a miracle!

From Esther, Joan and David, Peru:
Our new disciple testified recently how she used to suffer from regular severe asthma attacks, but that she has been perfectly healthy since joining the Family over three months ago, with the exception of one light attack right after she joined. This has been a tremendous testimony to her relatives of God's miracle-working power, as in the past she used to end up in the hospital quite often because of her asthma, and was on the verge of death several times.

From Dave, Ana and Cielo, Colombia:
Six months ago, while out witnessing we met a man who had an epileptic son. He is 22 years old and couldn't work or study because he was having up to
ten seizures a day. We went to his home to pray for him. We read him verses about healing, and then laid hands on him and rebuked whatever spirits were tormenting him. The Lord did a great miracle, and in six months he's only had one seizure! Now he wants to start working. He feels useful and knows the Lord has changed him.

Answered Prayer for Protection
From Jordan, Praise and Matthew, Costa Rica:
We pray every day for His protection, and He does protect us in so many ways that we don't even see or realize. One day this month we did see one of His miracles of protection when a team went to another town for a one-day trip. On the way there the rain started coming down quite heavily, and the team felt led to turn around and come straight back. We later heard that that same day, the town they were going to suffered severe flooding, sweeping cars and a bus off the road, causing much damage and even some deaths! Thank the Lord our team heeded the Lord's check, and arrived home safe and sound.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE LONG-TERM PRAYER LIST
As a reminder, we thought it might be helpful to include a brief summary of the main topics covered in the last long-term list (PL 25). Hopefully this will come in handy to jog your memory in praying for these topics in case you're having prayer time and PL 25 is not available. If you wish, you can even copy down this list of topics to carry with you so you can pray for them in situations when you can't have the Prayer List with you, such as when out in town or taking public
transport, etc. However, this is not meant as a substitute for PL 25, so please do try to refer to PL 25 for the specifics of each request whenever possible.
In order to make sure that the prayer requests from the long-term list are not forgotten, you may want to try praying for at least two requests from the long-term list every day, along with some of the requests from this Prayer List and your Continental Prayer List. This way, your Home would be praying for all the long-term requests regularly. Thank you for your faithful prayers! God bless you!
