PRAYER LIST 29   DO       January 1996
Copyrighted January 1996, The Family, Zurich, Switzerland

O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good: because His mercy endureth forever. The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation (Psalm 118:1,14).

Please use this list with PL 25, the latest long-term list. Thank you!

For 14 years and up. Although JETTs are not permitted to read the Prayer Lists on their own, you parents and teachers may read it with them during Word time, or share prayer requests with them when having prayer vigil. Selected prayer requests, answers to prayer and testimonies of answered prayer may be read to younger age groups as well, at your discretion. Please be prayerful and use wisdom in what you share with JETTs and children. Be sure to present prayer requests in a positive spirit, explain things and answer any questions they may have.

Dear Family,
God bless you! Thank you for your continued faithful prayers for all the requests on the Prayer Lists. Your prayers are certainly effective, as those who have received answers or been healed as a result can testify. As Dad said, He wants us to show concern and pray about it, and be specific about it. If you really believe, every prayer is heard and answered. But if you dont pray, it is not done! An awful lot depends on you. Its like you have to visualize the people youre praying for, and pray specifically for them with that thought on your heart, and ask the Lord to do this or that for them, and it is no sooner said than done. In fact, He often answers before you callbecause He knows youre going to (ML #302:3).
Since there is now a section on the TRF for prayer requests, weve begun to receive many more requests for the worldwide Prayer Lists. If we were to include them
all, it would result in a very long prayer list, one that would not only take very long to compile and get to you, but very long for you to pray for every item! So since many of the prayer requests sent in are similar, such as individuals needing funds to travel to a new field, or new housing, or a vehicle, or better outreach, or for easy pregnancy and delivery for a pregnant mom, etc., weve tried to formulate these into general prayer requests applicable to all those making these requests, which weve included either in this Prayer List or in the last long-term Prayer List (PL 25). By grouping the common prayer requests together, you can pray that request for every Homeas most Homes have a similar need. The ones weve left as individual requests are healing requests as well as other specific requests which would not relate to most Homes. So if you find that your specific request is not mentioned, we trust that you will find it covered by one of the general prayer requests, either in the regular Prayer Lists, or in the long-term Prayer List (such as PL 25).
Another approach weve taken to keep the Prayer List down to a manageable size for your prayer vigils, is to only include each prayer request on a
single Prayer List, rather than carrying it over to several issues. The exception to this are critical requests needing continued prayer from the Family. For lack of space we are also generally unable to include healing requests for outside friends and other non-Family members, but hopefully these will be included in your Continental Prayer Lists.
We love you and are proud of you and your love for the Lord and each other. Keep praying!
         Much love,
         Your WS Family

TESTIMONIES OF ANSWERED PRAYER!
From Dawn (20), USA:
Since the prayer request for my back went on the Prayer List, I would like to testify that it is well on the way to full recovery! Thank the Lord! The last time I went to a chiropractor I was told that I would probably have this problem (crooked spine in the neck) for the rest of my life and that there wasnt much I could do about it. For a long time I just accepted his word as truth and resigned myself to living with it, since it wasnt usually so bad. However, when it kept getting worse I finally decided to ask to be put on the Prayer List.
Since then the Lord has supplied a very sweet Christian chiropractor who has donated his services, and in just a months time I am so, so much better! The other chiropractor treated me for two months, twice a week with no success, but even after one or two visits since my request came out in the Prayer List I am doing much, much better. My hips went back into place (something the other chiropractor couldnt accomplish no matter how hard he tried) and my neck pain is almost all gone! Thank the Lord for His healing power!

From Heidi (of Luke), Switzerland:
From the depths of my heart I would like to thank you all very much for your prayers for my healing, which the Lord has so wonderfully answered. Praise the Lord! It has been a great comfort and strength to me during this time, and I feel indebted to all of you. We are richly blessed to have a Family that will stand by our side when we are in need.
After severe pains in my abdomen I went to a doctor friend and he discovered a growth in my womb plus some large cysts (larger than a tennis ball). A week ago it seemed they were growing unusually fast (in just one day one had doubled in size). This doctor has been a good friend, is a Christian, and has a lot of faith and takes things in stride.
My present situation, however, concerned him very much, and he immediately contacted a large university hospital. Two days later I had my womb cleaned, and further tests were done to determine whether the tumor (growth) was malignant or benign. Although they had not received the final results, I was told I had to start chemotherapy. We had the weekend ahead of us, which gave us some time to bring the matter before the Lord. We also sent in a prayer request, which went Europe-wide. The Lord became very real during this time, and all of a sudden things began to come into focus as to what really matters in this life. All the recent Word was a great strength and very fitting about these tests and trials being an honor.
When we received the test results, they showed no tumor and no remnants of the miscarriage I had had two months before! The doctor was quite puzzled. On top of that, a couple of days later the entire growth was gone! What a miracle! The cysts, however, remained, and became very painful. The doctor tried to puncture them but could not, as the Lord wanted to get the glory for healing them on His Own. They have now miraculously almost completely disappeared, and my body is back to normal. My womb is also completely clean and normal. Praise the Lord! The Lord hath done great things for us! This time has been a very precious time with Him, and I believe Hes also healing me of my worrying, being tense about the future and lack of trust. Having the Lord so real and so close, especially when being tested, has given me faith and trust that no matter what I go through, the Lord will be right by my side.
The Lord also did some very sweet, encouraging things during this time and spoke wonderfully in prophecy. He gave several people at different times the story of the blind man who was not blind because he or his parents had sinned, but that the Lords power might be manifestedwhich it was!

From the Puerto Rico Home:
In answer to fervent prayer, two hurricanes which everyone said would be hitting us within hours turned at the last minute and missed us! The hurricanes were a week apart and each time we prayed and prepared as best we could as Dad has taught us in the Letters. After committing ourselves to the Lord and going to bed, we woke up in the morning with each one turning away from us at the eleventh hour. It has made people here in Puerto Rico very thankful for the Lords Love and mercy in sparing them from the destruction that has come upon others.

From James, Flower and Rosita, Mexico:
This month a large hurricane was headed our way, and according to the papers would hit in only five days if it did not change direction. Some six years ago a hurricane virtually wiped out this tourist town, forcing us to close the Home at that time, so we did not feel it was Gods will for it to hit at this time when we are making good progress in setting up a work again here. We sent a message to the Homes asking them to pray, and on our prayer day we prayed desperately that it would change direction, laying hands on a picture in the paper of the approaching storm. That same night the hurricane changed course and went out to sea. Thank the Lord! What a miracle and answer to prayer!

From Brazil Service Center:
A week ago our van, full of the videos we had just duped for Christmas, was stolen at gunpoint. We prayed the police would find it and that it would be returned to us. In the evening the police called, saying they had found our van. They were tipped off by an anonymous caller (an angel?) who reported seeing a van being driven into a warehouse and that it looked like it had been stolen. It was a real miracle, as if the police had arrived on the scene just a few minutes later there wouldnt have been much left of our van, as it would have been totally taken apart (stolen vehicles here are stripped and the parts sold). Six windows were missing, but thankfully the engine was still in the van and it hadnt been disassembled. We were later able to get back most of the videos as well!

From Dave, Ana and Cielo, Colombia:
One of our most faithful supporters has a lot of debts, but after praying for him every day, the Lord did a big miracle. He owed millions of pesos to a bank, after having bought falling stock in a social club. A friend of his decided to buy the stock and paid our friends debt!

From Margie, Uruguay:
A little over two years ago I was checked by Dr. Mario, and he found I had about five ulcers on my cervix, some of them quite large. He suggested I get a pap smear, a test to determine the state of the skin in that area of the uterus. From personal experience I knew that the ulcers could become cancerous and that it was very important to take some kind of action. My mother had the same problem a couple of years before I joined the Family, and her ulcers did result in cancer.
Having been in the Family 22 years, my faith for healing had grown. I have prayed many times for different ones healing, and they have been healed. Sometimes the Lord would give me faith for certain people who had healing power to pray for me when I felt sick, and I had many times seen the Lord do miracles. But for some reason this time it was different, maybe because of my mothers experience. I had very little faith for my own healing, but I realized I would have to take a stand of faith and do something. Would I go to the doctors, or simply trust in His healing and others prayers?
My first reaction was to go to the Word and read as much as possible on healing. This gave me the faith that I was in the Lords hands, and if He wanted to keep me serving Him here, He would have to heal me. I certainly did not have much faith in doctors, so I went ahead and asked to be put on the Prayer List.
Two years passed before I felt it was time to go for another check-up and take the pap smear to see how the Lord was working on my healing. The results were that all the ulcers are gone and I am perfectly fine. What a miracle!
I must say that although I started trusting the Lord quite strongly when I first took a stand of faith, I did fall many times along the way. Fears would hit me and I would imagine the worst, mainly because I had irregularities in my period (something I never had before) and lots of extra bleeding at times. I would sometimes be in pain and quite run down for no specific reason. I would read through the Prayer Lists and hear of the symptoms of our dear loved ones who suffer from cancer, and at times I felt the same physically. This brought attacks of fear, thinking I was getting worse. I had to take strong stands against those thoughts, and finally got to the point where I thought, Well, Lord, if thats what You want, thats just fine with me. Ill trust You even if You decide to take me. Or if You want me to suffer, its okay. You havent failed me, and You gave Your life for me, so I am willing now to do the same. Many times I asked the Home to pray for me, and it brought a lot of peace in my heart to know that I wasnt fighting all alone, but that I had a great big Family standing by me, fighting with me in prayer.
The Lord acknowledged that faith, and although at times I was not faithful in continuing to trust in Him, He kept faithful and healed me of the ulcers! Maybe this will encourage you dear loved ones who find yourselves in similar situations, not to feel bad if you sometimes think negatively or feel like quitting. Wait for His perfect timing: sometimes it takes a while before He answers. At times I felt under condemnation, feeling I didnt have much faith and that this would hurt the Lord, but in His great Love and mercy He doesnt mind waiting for us to go through these experiences so we can grow and depend more on Him.
When I would spend time praying for others listed in the Prayer List, my heart would feel for them more than ever before. The Lord and His Word had comforted me in my distress, and I would expect Him to comfort others through my prayers. I want to thank our dear sweet Family who faithfully prayed for me. I appreciate it forever.

From Sam, Miguel and Victory, Brazil:
A director of a school who liked and bought our tools asked for prayer, as she had a tumor in her uterus and needed to undergo surgery. After praying for her with all of our hearts, all her symptoms disappeared! She now feels great and gives God the glory!

From Angel, Ester and Iris, Brazil:
Recently there was an explosion at a plant in a nearby city, and seven workers were seriously injured. The local doctors had given up hope of saving them, so a friend of ours hired an airplane equipped with an intensive care unit and brought the seven men to a better hospital. Two weeks later I talked with him on the phone. He said they were still in critical condition and there was not much hope that they would live. I told him that we would pray for these men, which we did. When I talked to him again recently and asked about the men in the hospital, he said it must have been some kind of miracle, because after he had last talked to me the men had an amazing recovery! They were all healed and had gone home! Our friend said that surely Someone had intervened on their behalf. And He
had, in answer to our prayers!

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE LONG-TERM PRAYER LIST
As a reminder, we thought it might be helpful to include a brief summary of the main topics covered in the last long-term list (PL 25). Hopefully this will come in handy to jog your memory in praying for these topics in case youre having prayer time and PL 25 is not available. If you wish, you can even copy down this list of topics to carry with you so you can pray for them in situations when you cant have the Prayer List with you, such as when out in town or taking public
transport, etc. However, this is not meant as a substitute for PL 25, so please do try to refer to PL 25 for the specifics of each request whenever possible.
In order to make sure that the prayer requests from the long-term list are not forgotten, you may want to try praying for at least two requests from the long-term list every day, along with some of the requests from this Prayer List and your Continental Prayer List. This way, your Home would be praying for all the long-term requests regularly. Thank you for your faithful prayers! God bless you!
