Update to LNF 231, "Please Pray for Computer Equipment"
It's been nearly two and a half years since LNF 231 (GN 631, pg.16), where we shared with you some suggestions on what type of computer equipment would be best to buy or provision if you want to run the HomeARC. Here are our more
current suggestions:

Absolute minimum computer setup
(The following equipment will run the HomeARC. However, if you do not have a computer or are considering getting new equipment, we suggest you go for a Pentium-based computer. See "Recommended minimum setup" below:)

         486 IBM-compatible computer
         8 MB RAM (memory)
         100+ MB hard disk
         Double speed CD-ROM player
         14-inch VGA monochrome monitor

Recommended minimum setup
(Consider this if you will be getting a new computer:)

         Pentium-based IBM-compatible computer
         16 MB RAM
         500+ MB hard disk
         4 x or faster CD-ROM player
         14-inch VGA color monitor

Other useful accessories
Sound card with midi capability and computer speakers
28.8 Kbps modem (if you want Internet access and e-mail, etc.)

Necessary operating systems for any computer configuration
         Windows 3.1 or,
         Windows for Workgroups 3.11 or,
         Windows 95 (recommended)

Future programs
The current HomeARC program can be used on a computer running the older Windows 3.1 operating system. WS does not have a lot of personnel or time to invest in programming. Since Windows 95 has become the standard for home and small business computer users, the WS computer department will concentrate their future programming efforts on developing programs that use Windows 95. This means that
future versions of the HomeARC and other Family-written programs will be written for Windows 95 (and probably Windows NT).
We don't have the resources necessary to keep our programs compatible with other operating systems like Windows 3.1, Macintosh, etc. So, if you want to anticipate future needs, please do set your sights higher than the "Absolute minimum computer setup." Please do not worry if at this time you do not have this type of setup, as it will be some time before any of these updated programs will be ready.

Please keep praying for us, that we can prepare the programs and pubs on computer for you as quickly as possible, and that the Lord will supply your Home and the rest of the Family with the necessary and upgraded computer equipment in order for everyone to benefit from using computers for the HomeARC, e-mail, the TeleTRF, accessing our Family Web site on the Internet, etc. We love you!

         Love,
         Your WS Family
