Notice about HomeARC Anomaly (OK, let's call a bug a bug!) -- December 1996      DO/TS

Dear HomeARC Users,
GBY! For those who have received or have yet to receive their HomeARC orders, we wanted to let you know that a problem has been reported by a few folks who have installed the HomeARC program on computers running Windows 95. (There have been no problems with the HomeARC reported by those having computers running Windows 3.1 or Windows for Workgroups.) However, the good news is that it's very easy for you to fix this problem yourself, PTL!
First, as with any NWO (yes, computers and computer programs have these, too!), it's important to define the problem, so here's an explanation of the problem:
After the HomeARC program is installed and run on some computers, when the HomeARC program is exited, some other programs (usually 16-bit programs) become unstable or don't work, and error messages appear when Windows 95 is closed down.

Here are the four steps to HomeARC health for those running Windows 95:

HomeARC Bug Fix

Step 1. Close the HomeARC program.

Step 2. In Explorer, go to the subdirectory your HomeARC program files are located in, usually "c:".

Step 3. Carefully delete the following 3 "problem-causing" files (you won't be able to delete these files if you don't close the HomeARC program):
         1) Lf
cmp61w.dll
         2) Lf
pcd61w.dll
         3) Lf
png61w.dll

Step 4. Reboot your computer and carry on!

This will only solve the HomeARC-related problems mentioned above, that some have experienced. If you have other computer or Windows 95 difficulties not related to the HomeARC, you'll have to consult your computer and program manuals or local experts.

         Happy (and healthy) HomeARCing!

         Much love,

         Your WS Pubs Team
