(Departed spirit, father of one of our teens:) I really am thankful for you, and I'm proud of you. Grandpa is too. We don't have one to spare. We need you. We love you. We want you, and we want to make you happy. We need every teen, every young person. I have faith in you, that you can make it, and Grandpa does too, and so does the Lord.
It's a battle of wills. When people start putting their own will before the Lord's will, they start getting into trouble. But even if you don't think you have the will, or you feel you're too weak, just say, "Lord, I can't. Please just take my will. Please help me to put my will on Your side." And He'll do it. We can't really use the excuse, "Well, if so-and-so can't make it in the Family, neither can I." That really has nothing to do with it. It's a matter of each person, every Christian that has ever lived, putting their will on the Lord's side and having their own personal relationship with the Lord, Family or no Family.
So ask the Lord to keep you close to Him, to keep your will on His side, and you won't go astray. He'll keep you on the straight and narrow.
